THE UNIVERSITY DOCTORSDEPARTMENT OF PEDIATRICSWelcome to Rowan University School of Osteopathic Medicine (RowanSOM) The University Doctors Department of Pediatrics. All of our physicians are Board Certified or Board Eligible for the specialty of Pediatrics. Our physicians also teach University students pursuing careers as doctors, so it is important that our staff keep current in all aspects of pediatric health care. We offer this high level of expertise to you and your children and are committed to quality care.

HOSPITALSChildren who require inpatient hospital care are cared for by the pediatric hospitalists who cover the hospital 24 hours a day. They are in direct contact with our office regarding patient management. Children who require more specialized care are referred to pediatric sub-specialists at Cooper Medical Center, Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children, and theAlfred I. DuPont Institute.

OFFICE VISITSOffice visits are by appointment only. Walk-infor established sick patients are available, in our Washington Township office only, Monday through Friday, 8:30-9:30 am. Saturday hours are available by appointment only. Check-up appointments should be scheduled several weeks in advance.

CHECK UPS, WELL BABY VISITS AND WELL CHILD VISITSOur office follows the recommendations of the American Academy of Pediatrics in scheduling childhood immunizations. This schedule includes well-baby visits every one to two months in the first six months of life, every three months until 18 months, and then yearly from two years until school aged.

SCHOOL, CAMP, SPORTS AND OTHER FORMSWhenever possible, we try to complete these at the time of your child’s regular checkup. Atother times, it will be as soon as possible, but up to three working days. To complete these forms we must have seen your child for a

AFTER HOURS CALLSFor urgent problems after regular office hours, call our regular telephone number to reach the pediatrician on-call. The recorded message will prompt you to press ’0’, and a live answering service will page the doctor on-call for you. One of our pediatricians is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Please reserve these calls for urgent problems only. If you have a true medical emergency, please dial 911.

INSURANCESThe University Doctors Pediatrics participates with most insurance carriers and managed care plans, including Aetna US Healthcare, AmeriHealth, Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield, University Health Plans, Mercy Health Plan, Keystone, Americhoice, Intergroup, Multiplan, Medicaid and United Healthcare. By legal obligation, we must follow the procedures and guidelines established by these insurance carriers in regard to co-pays, referrals, and theuse of in-network specialists, hospitals, and other facilities.
