J. Steven Leeder, PharmD, PhD Dr. Leeder is the Marion Merrell Dow/Missouri Endowed Chair in Pediatric Clinical Pharma-cology and director, division of Clinical Pharmacology, toxicology and therapeutic innova-tion at Children’s Mercy Hospitals and Clinics (CMH), Kansas City, Missouri. He serves as Associate Chair-Research, department of Pediatrics and holds faculty appointments as Professor of Pediatrics and Pharmacology at the University of missouri-Kansas City; Cour-tesy Professor of Pharmaceutical Chemistry in the school of Pharmacy at the University of Kansas (Lawrence, KS); and Adjunct Professor of Pharmacology, Toxicology and Therapeu-tics at the University of Kansas Medical Center (Kansas City, KS).

Dr. Leeder is an elected member of the American Pediatric Society, and has served as Trea-surer of the drug metabolism section of the international Union of Pharmacology (iUPhAR; 2006-2012), and currently is a member of the Pharmacogenetics section of IUPHAR. Other past service to professional societies and task forces include Chair-elect, Chair and Past-Chair of the drug metabolism division of the American society for Pharmacology and experi-mental Therapeutics (ASPET; 2009-2012), two 6-year terms on the American Board of Clini-cal Pharmacology; Vice-Chair (2002-2004) and Chair (2004-2008) of the Pediatric, Perinatal and maternal Pharmacology (Ped) section of the American society for Clinical Pharmacology and therapeutics (AsCPt), and as a member of the strategic Awards task Force and nomi-nation Committee for AsCPt; member of Council for the international society for the study of Xenobiotics (ISSX) from 2000-2003 and Chair of the Exhibits Committee (2003-2005).

Dr. Leeder’s research focuses on the application of pharmacogenetic and pharmacogenomic strategies to characterize the relative contributions of ontogeny, genetic variation, and dis-ease to observed variability in drug disposition and response in children. Clinical application of this research is embodied in the GOLDILOKs initiative at CMH: Genomic- and Ontogeny-Linked Dose Individualization and cLinical Optimization for Kids.

Sara Van Driest, MD, PhD, FAAP Dr. Van Driest completed her MD and PhD at the Mayo Clinic College of Medicine in her home state of Minnesota prior to moving to Nashville. There she completed pediatric resi-dency at the Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt, after which she was selected to serve as pediatric chief resident. She remained at Vanderbilt to complete a two year fel-lowship in Clinical Pharmacology under the mentorship of Dan Roden, and then joined the pediatric faculty in the Division of General Pediatrics. She is currently an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics and Medicine at Vanderbilt and a member of the Society for Pediatric Research. As a physician-scientist, sara uses the electronic medical record as a source of “big data” for research and as a tool for implementation of pediatric personalized medicine. She has focused on commonly used medications, including antibiotics, analgesics and sedatives, and the common adverse drug event, acute kidney injury. Sara’s research program has been funded through an NIH KL2, an early career award from the PhRMA Foundation, and an In-novation in Regulatory Science Award from the Burroughs Wellcome Fund.

G. Bradley Schaefer, MD, FAAP Dr. Schaefer is a Professor of Genetics and Pediatrics at the University of Arkansas for Medi-cal Sciences. He is the Founding Director of the Division of Medical Genetics and the Chief of the Section of Genetics and Metabolism in the Department of Pediatrics at UAMS. He is also the Medical Director of the Genetic Counseling Training program at UAMS. He is the inaugu-ral holder of the Committee for the Future Endowed Chair in Medical Genetics. He has achieved board certification in Pediatrics, Human Genetics, and Pediatric Endocrinol-ogy. He is a founding fellow of the American College of Medical Genetics, and a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics. He is a member of the American Pediatric Society. He has authored over 250 scientific articles, book chapters, and invited reviews. He is on the editorial board of the Journal of Child Neurology, and sits on the National Advisory Board for the Sotos Syndrome Support Association.

Dr. Schaefer’s clinical and research interests focus on the genetics of neurodevelopmental, neurosensory and neurobehavioral disorders; craniofacial genetics, medical transition for Children with special health Care needs; tele-genetics services; and newborn screening follow up and infrastructure.
