OverviewThe Department of Clinical Nutrition at The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia announces a multidisciplinary program providing strategies to nourish the pediatric patient in a variety of situations, from failure to thrive through post-bariatric surgery. The course is directed toward dietitians, family physicians, pediatricians, nurse practitioners and allied health professionals.

ObjectivesUpon completion of this course, participants should be able to:

• Describe the variety of disturbances in eating that occur from childhood through adolescence

• Recognize the behaviors commonly seen in feeding aversions

• Describe normal growth and the deviations from normal growth standards in children who fail to thrive

• Review treatment options from traditional weight management to bariatric surgery in obese adolescents

General InformationThe conference will be held on The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia Main Campus. Registration will begin at 7:30 a.m. Registration fee includes course materials, continental breakfast, refreshments, lunch and parking on campus.

Registration InformationAttendees can register by mail, fax or online. Please see the registration form for the mailing address, fax number and Web address. Preregistration is required, and the deadline is Monday, Nov. 12, 2012. Payment must accompany the registration form for it to be processed. Once registration has been processed a confirmation letter will be mailed or faxed.

DietitiansSeven hours of continuing education credit for registered dietitians have been requested from the Commission on Dietetic Registration.

NursingThe Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia is approved as a provider of continuing education in nursing by the Pennsylvania State Nurses Association, which is accredited as an approver of continuing education in nursing by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation. An application has been submitted and is pending approval.

Hotel AccommodationsA block of rooms has been reserved at reduced rates at The Hilton Inn at Penn, located within walking distance from Children’s Hospital and the University of Pennsylvania’s bustling campus. There is upscale shopping, dining and nightlife as well as convenient access to Center City Philadelphia, Amtrak’s 30th Street Station, I-76 and the Philadelphia International Airport.

The group rate is $209 single and double occupancy plus a 15.24 percent room tax. Participants are required to reserve their own hotel accommodations by calling The Hilton Inn at Penn directly at 215-222-0200. Please mention the name of the conference when making your reservation. The special room rate will be available until Sunday, Oct. 28, 2012. After that date, reservations will be accepted according to space and rate availability.

Cancellation and Refund PolicyThe Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia reserves the right to cancel or postpone any course due to any unforeseen circumstances. In the event of cancellation or postponement, Children’s Hospital will refund any registration fees, less a service charge, but is not responsible for any related costs, charges or expenses to participants, including cancellation charges assessed by airlines/travel agencies.

In order to process refunds for course withdrawals, cancellations must be received in writing by Monday, Nov. 12, 2012. No refunds will be issued thereafter. Refunds will be issued for the amount of registration minus a $40 service charge.
