The Goals:
Overall, to provide employees an effective and sustainable program that ensures a safe and efficient working environment through ergonomic policies, standards, procedures and resources.
More specifically,- Apply ergonomic principles to the workplace- Reduce the number and severity of MSDs- Decrease and prevent injuries resulting in workers’ compensation
claims- Maximize employee comfort while minimizing the risk of undue
physical stress- Increase productivity, quality and efficiency

• The right mix of people (Facilities, HR, Safety, others?)
• The right stuff (Do the local Evaluators have the ‘bedside manner’ and attention to detail needed to do evaluations?)
• The right tools (Email templates for communication with employees, use of safety management system for tracking the progress of the evaluation, use of vendor’s system to review ergonomic survey results)
• The right basic training (for local Ergo team – step-by-step implementation, onsite training, post-implementation support calls; for employees – provided by the vendor’s system)

Strategy #2These were the questions we considered…
• Work with vendor to identify ergonomic needs of office workers and home-based or mobile workers – will an online survey be a good fit?
• Discuss training needs – what is provided to the employee when they complete the ergonomic survey? Is additional training needed or available for:
-Evaluators?-Employees?-Management?
• Determine when and how to utilize the vendor’s network of providers

Strategy #3Local Ergonomics Teams manage the Evaluation process
Standardized steps are put in place (as part of the Implementation process):
• Deploy Atlas survey
• Review results & determine level of follow-up
• Onsite follow-up by Pearson Evaluator or Atlas therapist
• Submit recommendations for adjustments, furniture, equipment
• Follow-up with Employee and close out request
• Document the evaluation progress as it happens in the safety management system
