Plant Design System (PDS) Ortho Draw User's Guide 1

S E C T I O N 1

This User's Guide explains in detail on how to create the optimal drawing in the shortest amount of time, the preceding work that must be carried out to create the desired drawing, and on the logic involved in how the PDS Ortho Draw creates the drawing.

The beginning of each chapter starts off with the introduction of the content explained in the chapter and the chapter proceeds with a detailed explanation of the topic.

The explanation of each process focuses on the business practice perspective, which allows the user to easily get used to PDS Ortho Draw by simply following the process. This also makes it easy to be applied to real projects.

Who This User's Guide is For This User Guide is meant for users who wish to create the drawings out of models that have been modeled with the use of PDS®.

This guide is written from the user’s perspective, so with the basic knowledge on certain parts of PDS®’s Design Data and Drawing Manager, an optimal drawing can be made just with the use of this User Guide.

If an overall knowledge of PDS® including its Modeling function is acquired, then it could serve to help solving problems presented during drawing creation arising from modeling errors.

The lowest Elevation out of the included Deck will become the Lower Deck, and the highest Deck will become the Upper Deck. The Deck serving as the standard will be set according to the User Define Deck Style set by the Expression Style.

If it is set as Near Deck, then the closest Deck out of Upper and Lower Decks will be automatically selected. Display the system standard’s elevation and Outside of Deck if the elevation is located under the Lower Deck after setting the Elevation located above the Upper Deck. Elevation Expression Style - Select elevation style among TOP, COP, and BOP.

Elevation Description - Set Prefix and Suffix to be displayed in Elevation.

Condition Tab (Piping Option Dialog Box) Sets conditions so that the necessary Model out of the Reference File can be selected. Criteria are of the same method as the Criteria used in Label Format, the And condition can be set for the same Row, and if a Row is added, then the OR condition is formulated.

The condition written in the Criteria is the file name of the Reference File excluding the expansion.

In Criteria, signs such as ‘*’, ‘?’ and ‘!’ are used.

‘*’ : It does not figure the letters in the direction of the symbol regardless of the number.

‘?’ : It does not figure the letters identical to the number.

Page 69: PDS Ortho User's Guide.pdf

Option

Plant Design System (PDS) Ortho Draw User's Guide 63

‘!’ : It figures the conditions inversely.

If the same condition as the picture above is given, then it will become (*PIPE* & ??EQUI*) | (*HVAC*). Thus if ‘EQUI’ is present on the third character of the file name, or if the file name includes ‘PIPE’ or ‘HVAC’, then it means that they do not meet the conditions.

Piping Model Rule If all reference files are allowed, for instance like ‘*’, then all files for piping also will be allowed in Drawing Manager. If the user does not input any value, then no file for piping will not be applied in Drawing Manager.

Equipment Model Rule If all Reference Files are allowed to set the Criteria as ‘*’, then all files made by the Drawing Manager for Equipment Use are permitted, and if no value is written, then all files made by the Drawing Manager for Equipment use will not be permitted.

Page 70: PDS Ortho User's Guide.pdf

Option

64 Plant Design System (PDS) Ortho Draw User's Guide

Equipment Model Rule includes the Generic Equipment and Ref. Equipment Model Rule. The thing to watch out for here is that there is a ranking. One Model only has one Model Rule applied, thus if the same Criteria is applied on two Model Rules, then the corresponding drawing will be recognized as a Generic Equipment.

If the Criteria is set as ‘*’ for Generic Equipment, then all drawings will not be applied in the Ref. Equipment, so cautions must be taken.

Support Model Rule Piping Support Designer in PDS - The Piping Drawing’s Support can be modeled into 3 types. If it is modeled in PDS, then the data is saved in pdtable_80. Thus the Model Rule is applied in the same manner as Pipe Model Rule, and in this case, changes cannot be made.

Whether to display this Support on the drawing can be set with the use of ‘Use Piping Support Designer in PDS’ checkbox. If used, then the Data Column to be displayed on the Drawing can be set from the Column Name beneath. When setting it as Key-in, it is possible for the user to manually enter is, but the exact Column must be set to display the data, so accuracy is required.

Structure Model Rule Structure Model Rule use the same Discipline as FrameWorks Plus Support Model Rule, thus priority order is applied. Since FrameWorks Plus Support is prioritized, the FrameWorks Plus Support Model Rule must be blocked or the drawing name to be applied on the Structure Model Rule must be set in such a way so that that it is not be the same as the FrameWorks Plus Support Model Rule in order to properly apply the Structure Model Rule.

Structure Platform Rule - In the model that structure model rule was applied, set platform to be displayed on the drawing. Apply the FrameWork+ member’s name after comparing it with the criteria entered by the user.

Type - The user can select WALL or SLAB as attribute type in FrameWorks Plus.

If the user selects ‘ALL’, both of SLAB and WALL will be selected.

Equipment No. - Sets data to be displayed as Equipment No. (See Label Expression)

Equipment Nozzle No. - Sets data to be displayed as Equipment Nozzle No.

Structure Column - There are ‘Grid Text’ and ‘Grid Model’ in the table in the Structure Column category.

Grid Text is the grid that the user keyed-in the Structure Grid Data, and Grid Model is the data which was brought from the Grid Model generated with FrameWorks+. The user must be cautious to attach not only the Grid Model as reference file, but also Propagated Model and Sparse Model. The user can get the optimal results when he combines two models since Sparse model is used to call for data while Propagated model is used to create a drawing in e-Draw.

There are three options such as All, Grid Intersection, and Grid Intersection + Column Position in column.

If the user selects All, all Grid lines in the data will be displayed on the drawing. If the user selects Grid Intersection, only crossed-over grids will be displayed. If the user selects Grid Intersection + Column Position, then the grids with a column at the intersection will be displayed

Structure Column Coordinates - Displays coordinates in the Structure Column. (no options in the Label Format)

Structure Member Section - Selects Type or Name, or Section which are attributes of the FrameWorks+ to be displayed as Structure Member Section.

Structure Platform Elevation - Mark the platform elevation which was modeled as Structure on the drawing. (no options in the Label Format)

Equipment Platform Elevation - Displays the Platform elevation on the drawing, which was modeled as Equipment. (no options in the Label Format)

Support No. - Support No. is automatically extracted from the reference file that the user set in the Condition, expressed and displayed in Support which was modeled as pdtable_80, FrameWorks+, and Pelican Forge.

ECC. Reducing Item / CON. Reducing Item - Sets data to be displayed as Reducing Item. The data set in Model_code/Commodity_code within the Column Data is displayed as the label.

Condition Tab (HVAC Option Dialog Box) As described in Piping Option, there is the property order in the model rule. In case of HVAC Option, Equipment, Instrument and Seat, Support, and Structure are applied in the property order even though the same model rule is applied to all of them.

Equipment > Instrument

Seat > Support > Structure

For example, the drawing must be input as structure to display grid information. If it is applied to the seat model rule, you cannot get the needed information. Thus, you must understand features of the model rule and apply the priority order in an appropriate way to create a desired drawing.

Equipment Model Rule

It is a setting for the equipment model.

If the user inputs ‘*’ in Criteria in all reference files, all attached files for equipment will be allowed while no attached file will be applied in Drawing Manager if the user does not input any value.

Page 102: PDS Ortho User's Guide.pdf

96 Plant Design System (PDS) Ortho Draw User's Guide

In Electrical Drawing, the priority order is applied to Equipment Model Rule and Instrument Model Rule. Since only one model rule is applied to one model, the model will be identified as Equipment if one criteria is applied to two model rules. If the criteria is set as ‘*’ in Equipment, the drawing is not applied to Instrument Model Rule.

Criteria - Sets it as only the attribute name set by the user Attribute can be selected.

It is applied as criteria of the model rule is applied.
