Floor-mounted Linear Diffuser Type LDU

ApplicationThe LDU floor--mounted linear diffuser has been desi-gned to condition office and conference rooms as well asentrance halls. It complements passive cooling by struc-tural components in the floor and provides basic venti-lation for faster temperature regulation.

It is ideal for all--air heating and may be combined withstatic heating surfaces to save space.

The floor--mounted linear diffuser type LDU may be in-stalled as a linear diffuser along the facade integrated inthe screed of a floor cavity or in a false floor. Air gui-dance, by plenum boxes either in the floor cavity with la-teral connection, through the floor/slab, or from a pressu-rized floor.

FunctionLDU floor--mounted linear diffusers provide high--induc-tion mixing of the supply air with individual jets parallelto the facade.

By providing rapid reduction of air speed and tempera-ture differential, its field of application is larger than thatof known swirl and displacement air diffusers.

Linear Diffuser Type LDU

Tolerances- Concerning the values given in these technical speci-fications, the following general tolerances acc.to DIN ISO 2768--vL apply:

- Length tolerance : ≤1.5 m± 1.5 mm≥1.5 m± 2.0 mm

- Straightness and torsion tolerances acc. toDIN EN 12020--2.

Surface Finishes- The surface finishes of LDU linear diffusers meet stan-dard indoor use requirements, i.e. room climate require-ments acc. to DIN EN ISO 7730.

- Other finishes meeting special use requirements areavailable on request.

Indoor Air Flow / Thermal ComfortWith unimpeded jet propagation in front of the facade, theoccupied zone, as determined by EN 13779, may be ex-ceeded without affecting comfort.

Supply air is rapidly mixed over the diffuser and theresulting flow, in the cooling mode, travels through theoccupied zone as a low--impulse displacement flow at low

speed. In the heating mode or near heating sources, air isdirected towards the ceiling.

Unliketypical displacement air flow, vertical temperaturegradients in the occupied zone are below EN 13779limits.

Due to combined mixed air--displacement air ventilation,the indoor air flow and, thus, thermal comfort in the occu-pied zone remain virtually unaffected bymoderate supplyair variations and supply air temperature.

Assembly / InstallationLateral air connection (via floor cavity)

Before casting the screed insert the air connection box inthe supporting plate cutout for the screed.

The insertion shaft for the linear diffuser is sealed usingthe casting core included in the delivery. Having comple-ted the floor work and laid the floor covering, remove thecore and insert the diffuser.

Air connection from below (via floor)

Before installing the false floor fix the air connection boxto the unfinished floor using structure--borne sound insu-lated clamping brackets. A circumference seal on the ca-sing bottom surrounds the supply air tube coming out ofthe solid floor.

Position tolerances on site are compensated by adjustingthe height of the feet integrated in the air connection box.

The following applies to all versions:

Height tolerances are compensated in the given range viaslide socket or by adjusting the height of the diffuser. Thesupply flow may easily be adjusted using the integratedthrottle slide and performing a pressure measurement.

Range of ProductsLinear diffuser, 1--row and 2--row version (the latter withlateral air connection only), with integrated throttle slideand surrounding frame made entirely of galvanized sheetsteel to cover floor covering cut edges.

All components visible from inside the room are powdercoated similar to RAL silky gloss.

Air distribution box entirely made of galvanized sheetsteel. In case of air connection from below the air distribu-tion box is supplied with additional integrated heightadjustable steel feet, seal for the supply air tube, and twoclamping claws. A polystyrene casting core is supplieddetached and included with any version in any delivery.

MaintenanceThe diffuser insert may easily be removed from the shaftof the air distribution box. The insert may be cleanedwiththe diffuser and throttle slide removed.

For cleaning, access the air connection box integrated inthe floor using a vacuum cleaner nozzle.

All surfaces are metal smooth and easy to clean.
