Minimum Design Loads for Buildings and Other StructuresThird Printing
Standard ASCE/SEI 7-10(Errata Incorporated; Includes Supplement 1)
The third printing of Standard ASCE/SEI 7-10 incorporates errata and includes Supplement 1. In addition, the seismic commentary has been expanded and completely revised. The expanded seismic commentary can be downloaded from the ASCE Library (free with registration) at http://dx.doi.org/10.1061/9780784412916.Standard 7 provides requirements for general structural design and includes means for determining dead, live, soil, flood, snow, rain, atmospheric ice, earthquake, and wind loads, as well as their combinations, which are suitable for inclusion in building codes and other documents. Standard ASCE/SEI 7 is an integral part of building codes in the United States. Many of the load provisions are substantially adopted by reference in the International Building Code and the NFPA 5000 Building Construction and Safety Code. Structural engineers, architects, and those engaged in preparing and administering local building codes will find the structural load requirements essential to their practice. Note: Purchasers of the first and second printings of this Standard 7-10 can download the errata and Supplement 1 at http://www.asce.org/sei/errata.2014 | 618 pp. | List $165 | ASCE Member $123.75 Soft Cover + CD-ROM set: List $248 | ASCE Member $186

Snow LoadsGuide to the Snow Load Provisions of ASCE 7-10Michael ORourke
ASCE Press
A detailed and authoritative interpretation of the snow load provisions of Standard ASCE/SEI 7-10. With clear, concise language, ORourke illustrates the key concepts and guides for applying the provisions to the design of new and existing structures that could collect falling or drifting snow. Like its predecessors that accompanied earlier editions of the Standard, this new book includes examples of flat roof loads, sloped roof loads, partial loads, and all types of conventional drift loading. New material includes design examples for leeward drift and sliding loads on adjacent structures and an improved discussion of bays susceptible to ponding loads. 2010 | 176 pp. | List $66 | ASCEMember$49.50

Wind LoadsGuide to the Wind Load Provisions of ASCE 7-10Kishor C. Mehta and William L. Coulbourne
ASCE Press This helpful guide focuses on the wind load provisions of Minimum Design Loads for Buildings and Other Structures, Standard ASCE/SEI 7-10, that affect the planning, design, and construction of buildings for residential and commercial purposes. The 2010 revision of the Standard significantly reorganized the wind load provisions, expanding them from one to six chapters. Simplified methods of performing calculations for common situations were added to the Standard, and guidelines for components and cladding were gathered in a single chapter. This book is an essential reference for practicing structural engineers, as it offers the most authoritative and in-depth interpretation of the wind loads section of Standard ASCE/SEI 7-10. 2013 | 192 pp. | List $75 | ASCE Member $56.25

Chile Earthquake and Tsunami of 2010 Performance of Coastal InfrastructureCOPRI Chile Earthquake Investigation Team Edited by Billy L. Edge
On February 27, 2010, an earthquake of magnitude 8.8 occurred off the coast of south-central Chile, causing intense shaking for as long as three minutes and generating a tsunami that spread across the Pacific Ocean. In April 2010, an ASCE-COPRI (Coasts, Oceans, Ports, and Rivers Institute) team of coastal, structural, and geotechnical engineers conducted a field investigation of 10 sites in Chile affected by the earthquake and tsunami. This report presents the teams findings on which types of infrastructure performed poorly and which performed as intended. For coastal engineers, structural engineers, geotechnical engineers, and disaster risk managers, the observations and analyses in this report provide critical information for engineering infrastructure that withstands major earthquake and tsunami events.2013 | 144 pp. | List $72 | ASCE Member $54

Tohoku, Japan, Earthquake and Tsunami of 2011 Survey of Coastal StructuresEdited by Lesley Ewing, Shigeo Takahashi, and Catherine M. Petroff
On March 11, 2011, a magnitude 9.0 earthquake rumbled off the east coast of Japan, followed by a tsunami that generated waves more than 18 meters high. For seven days in May 2011, an ASCE/COPRI Coastal Structures Team investigated the earthquake and tsunami effects specific to engineered coastal structures, coastal landforms, and coastal processes in northeast Japan. For coastal engineers, structural engineers, geotechnical engineers, and disaster risk managers, the observations and analysis in this report provide critical information for engineering infrastructure that withstands major earthquake and tsunami events.2013 | 116 pp. | List $70 | ASCE Member $52.50

Curtain Wall SystemsA PrimerEdited by Ali M. Memari
ASCE Manuals and Reports on Engineering Practice No. 126
Curtain Wall Systems: A Primer provides a comprehensive introduction to the use of curtain wall systems in building envelopes. Todays curtain wall systems go beyond the basic functions of providing natural lighting and protecting the building interior from the external environment. These systems now are expected to conserve energy and ensure occupant comfort by controlling heat flow and solar radiation. Manual of Practice (MOP) 126 is written for architects, structural engineers, HVAC engineers, general contractors, building owners, and building operators who are new to curtain wall systems and want to learn more about this specialized and emerging field.2013 | 162 pp. (est.) | List $90 | ASCE Member $67.50

Managing GigaprojectsAdvice from Those Whove Been There, Done ThatEdited by Patricia D. Galloway, Kris R. Nielsen, and Jack L. Dignum
ASCE Press
Managing Gigaprojects reports from the leading edge of the worlds biggest infrastructure construction projects. Megaprojects, with costs of more than US$1 billion, are being surpassed by gigaprojects, with pricetags higher than US$10 billion. These enormous projects are critical to meeting the growing demands of global populations, yet they present daunting obstacles for effective planning, design, construction, and delivery. Engineers, construction managers, planners, and risk managers will find in this volume useful tools for the effective and efficient execution of megaprojects and gigaprojects. Managing Gigaprojects is also an indispensable guide for investors, senior executives, board members, and other participants involved in these large-scale projects.2013 | 480 pp. | List $120 | ASCEMember $90
