RACE DAY TRAVEL RACE DAY TRAVEL RACE DAY INSTRUCTIONS RACE DAY INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE RACE DAY If you are running the marathon, half-marathon or 5k, your timing tag is attached to your bib. In order to receive an accurate time, do not remove it from the bib for any reason. Relay runners will pass a timing chip amongst your teammates so make sure the runner of Leg 1 starts with the chip. Your bib must be worn on the front of your shirt or shorts. Be sure to fill out the emergency medical information on the back of your bib. A Bag Check tag is included on your bib. Attached the bag check tag to your bag prior to turning it in. RACE MORNING Arise early enough on race morning so that you can drink 6 oz. of water or coffee right away. Drinking too much or too close to the start will mean more bathroom stops during the race. Arrive early to allow for traffic and parking. OPD will begin closing streets at 7am. You will also want to allow extra time to check your bag and go to the restroom prior your start time. COURSE INFORMATION For your safety, only run on the street. Do not run on the sidewalks, curbs or medians unless instructed by the police. If you want the first few miles to be less crowded, line up in the back of the pack, walk slowly to the start and cross the timing mat when the field has spread out a bit. The marathon/relay runners and half marathon runners will merge at mile 17. Marathon & relay runners should pin their FULL or RELAY bib on the back of their shirt. Any clothing discarded at the startline or along the race course will not be returned. It will be collected and donated to charity. Please be considerate of others while on the race route. If you must walk or stop, please move to the right side of the roadway. Please also do not walk or run more than two abreast so that runners may easily pass. If wearing headphones is part of your routine, please reduce the volume so you can be aware of your surroundings. AFTER YOUR RACE As you finish, DO NOT stop at the archway to stop your watch or wait for a friend. Please keep moving into the Runner Only Compound as not to impeed other participants or those needing medical attention. Please do not take extra food and snacks for yourself or your cheering section. Remember there will be runners who finish after you who also need to refuel after their race. The Red Lots close at 8:15 am and are recommended for full, relay and 5K participants (parking fees may be charged) 1810 Webster 17th and Webster 15th and Harrison 1414 Harrison Street 1415 Harrison Street 1405 Franklin Street To access them take 980 to the 12th Street exit and make a left onto 11th OR take 880 N to the Broadway exit and make a right onto 11th. The Blue Lots are open all day and are recommended for half-marathon participants (parking fees may be charged) 2301 Webster 20th and Webster 21st and Broadway 80 Grand Kaiser Center Garage (entrance on 20th St between Harrison & Webster; also entrance on 21st St) - $5 Parking. To access them take 580 and get off the Harrison St Exit South. There is also street parking. (BE SURE TO CHECK FOR NO PARKING SIGNS PRIOR TO PARKING. SOME ROADS MAY BE CLOSED FOR RACE ROUTE TRAFFIC.) BART Service does not begin until 8 AM on Sunday. The 19th Street Station is three blocks from the Start/Finish Line.
