PCB drilling machine is system, which is used to drillsholes in

PCB (PRINTED CIRCUIT BOARD).

It is completely MECHATRONICS based system. The project

overview is same is shown in fig.

Before the time of PCB Drilling Machine has not been invented yet, people usingmanual operation to drilled the PCBs holes. Means, the drilling process is done by

human, not machine. At that time, even in the industry also using a lot of man power

just to do the same thing which is drill the PCBs holes. When it comes to the speed,

efficiency and accuracy, manual technique is not suitable way to fulfill these criteria.

The human have a weakness and sometimes they can produce much better resultbeyond expectation. But usually, they produced only the minimum quality of the

result. In terms of accuracy, human are loss to the machine and common mistake

such as miss target to drill the correct holes is the major problem and can cause

many rejected PCBs. So, the accuracy of drilling the PCBs holes is the most

important thing that needs to be taken into account in order

to reduce the rejected PCBs. This project attempted to find the solution to these

problems.

Design of screw thread rod:

A screw thread is defined as a ridge of uniform section in the

form of a helix on either the external or internal surface of a

cylinder. Internal threads refer to those on nuts and tapped

holes, whileexternal threads are those on bolts, studs, orscrews.

Major diameter: the major dia. Is the diameter of an imaginary

cylinder that bounds the crest of an external thread or root of

an internal thread.

Minor diameter: the minor diameter of an imaginary cylinder

that bounds the root of external thread or the crest of internal

thread.

Pitch: the pitch is the distance b/w two similar point on

adjacent threads measured parallel to the axis of the thread.

Thread angle: thread angle is the angle included b/w the sides

of the thread measured in an axial plane.

MICROCONTROLLER 89C51:In terms of the software, micro controllers have a more compact

set of instructions with commands more suited to processcontrol such as input and output from. Single bit operationssuch as set and reset, bit-wise logical functions or branchinginstructions that depend on a single bit are commonlyavailable as part of the instruction set to allow for readinginput switch status or on/off control of an external event.Since in a given application the micro controller isprogrammed for one task, it only has one control program. Ina microprocessor based system various programs are stored

in a mass storage device and then loaded into the RAM forexecution. In contrast the micro controller program istypically stored in a ROM or PROM and RAM is used fortemporary storage of data.

STEEPER MOTOR:

Stepper motors can be used in various areas of microcontroller projects such as

making robots, robotic arm, automatic door lock system and etc. In this section

also explain the construction of stepper motors (unipolar and bipolar stepper

Motors), basic principle and different controlling types (Half step and Full

step).

The principle of steeper moter is same shown in fig

DRILLING TOOL KIT:

For the drilling process is done without facing any problem, the drill will be an

important thing to be considered. For the better result of drilling the PCB

with various types of drill bits, a very good drill set is properly chosen to

perform such a task. One of the ProsKit products is chosen which a SuperDrill Set.
