What are you thankful for today?
I hope that you not only take the time to reflect on what you are thankful to God for dur-
ing this Thanksgiving season but also during the entire year. 1 Corinthians 16:34 tells
us to “Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good”.
Know that I am thankful for each one of you and count it a privilege to have you as part
of our school family. Here at PCA we very much value your support and prayers. As a
school staff, every Monday we also pray for you, our school families. Let us know if
there is anything specific that we can pray for your family.
You will notice later on in this newsletter that Music Makers starts on October 15. This
year we are extending it to include any Grade 3 students who may be interested in be-
ing a part of this afterschool music and drama activity. Please call the office if you
have any questions.
Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!
Blessings, Miss Lockhart

Instead of celebrating Halloween at PCA Elementary, we cele-brate Reformation Day. Reformation Day commemorates Dr. Martin Luther's posting of his Ninety-five Theses on the door of the Castle Church in Wittenberg, Germany on October 31, 1517. The Reformation was the great rediscovery of the good news of salvation by grace through faith for Christ's sake.
Curriculum Handbooks/Summaries
The 2014/2015 Curriculum Summaries for Kindergarten to Grade 9 and senior high school and the Curriculum Express for Parents, Kindergarten to Grade 3, are available in both digital and print format. They are available on the Alberta Edu-cation website at http://education.alberta.ca - click on ‘parents’ and you will find them under ‘resources for parents’

You are cordially invited to the 11th Annual PCA Sabres Athletics Banquet, to take place on Saturday, October 4th at Bethel Evangelical Missionary Church. Appetizers will be served beginning at 5:00 pm and dinner will commence at 6:00pm. Tickets are $50 and on sale at the PCA Elementary and Secondary offices. Our key speaker this year is Rodd Sawatzky. Rodd is on staff with Athletes in Action, the Chaplain to the Calgary Flames, Stampeders and Roughnecks and has coached and played bas-ketball in over 25 countries. Heath Brown, CTV Calgary sports anchor, will again fill the role of Master of Ceremonies at this year’s event and local auctioneer Jon Rad-cliffe will provide the skills needed to encourage generous bidding during our live auction. As in past years there will be both silent and live auctions available for your partici-pation, though it is not required. Funding from the Banquet helps underwrite the costs of putting our teams on the courts and in the football fields. Funding also helps cover transportation and pro-vides uniforms. Additionally, funds have been available to benefit all students at Prairie Christian Academy through the purchase and maintenance of a 24 passenger bus and three smaller vehicles that are used to meet the transportation needs for the various groups within our school, including Student Union, His Singers, dormito-ry and class field trips. We look forward to hosting many PCA alumni at this annual event. If you own a business and are interested in sponsoring the Sabres, please contact Chad Reimer at 443-3731.

Music Makers Once again we are excited to offer Music Makers as part of our after-school program. For those of you who are new to our school, we have a music and drama program that students can be involved in. This pro-gram is for anyone in Grades 3-6 who likes to sing and act. It will be held on Wednesdays from 3:30-4:45 and will begin on Wednesday, Oc-tober 15. Tiffany Dietz will be the leader of Music Makers and a letter has been included from her below. A $10 fee will be charged to cover
costs of the program. If you have any questions, please call the school. From Tiffany: Dear Parents and Music makers Supporters, I am so excited to be starting another year of Music Makers after my year off. I know that this is going to be a great year. This year our plans include teaming up with Mr. Sommer for the annu-al Christmas program and then doing a drama/musical in the winter/spring term. All students from grades 3 through 6 are welcome to be a part of this after school program. This program is not only for the students in Grades 3-6, but we will also be looking for support from parents who have a passion for music and drama. It is my firm belief that music is a vital part of learning, especially in elementary school. The love of music can be awakened in these young lives and I would love to be a part of unlocking it. That does involve a certain level of commitment from the students as well as myself and you as parents. In the winter/spring session we will need volunteer parents to help out with costumes, backdrops and even some parent supervision. If you are inter-ested in helping with that please let me know. I do not have talent in those areas but I know that some of you moms and dads do. It does mean a lot to me to have your cooperation. Thank you for your support. Tiffany Dietz (403)443-7042
October Memory Verses John 11: 21-27
21 Martha said to Jesus, “Lord, if you had been here, my brother would not have died. 22 But even now I know that whatever you ask from God, God will give you.” 23 Jesus said to her, “Your brother will rise again.” 24 Martha said to him, “I know that he will rise again in the resurrection on the last day.” 25 Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live, 26 and everyone who lives and believes in me shall never die. Do you believe this?” 27 She said to him, “Yes, Lord; I believe that you are the Christ, the Son of God, who is coming into the world.”
