Project Base Learning PreK

+Objective
Over the course of two weeks, students will be able to differentiate between Special Clothes that people wear at work, and will be able to explain the process of making clothes, as well as what materials can be used, how clothes changed in time.

Keys of PBL
Students will be assigned from 3 options of groups by topic.
Group 1. – How are clothes made, who makes them and out of what?
Group 2 – What special clothes do people wear for work?
Group 3 – How clothes changed over time?
We will be developing thinking skills to observe, investigate, ask questions, solve problems, make predictions and test student’s ideas.

Keys of PBL
Students will be able to explain how clothes are made and out of what.
Students will learn to gather information to show different types of clothes and processes to make clothes.
Students will brainstorm and come up with questions for the different people they will be interviewing.

Students will work with the Art and Music teachers to create art pieces and they will learn a song referent to the activity.
A final presentation to the class and a celebration will take place.
They will be evaluating themselves with happy , neutral, and sad faces on topics of team work, how well they presented, and how much effort they put into their projects.

Project Overview
The 2 teachers along with 4 parents will be working with one group each, which will consist of 5 students. They will each have different tasks and they will be able to learn from each other since they will each be addressing different components.

During the course of the first week, students will receive the visit of a designer and after that they will be able to walk through school looking at different kinds of clothes.

They will be looking at different textures, different shapes, different materials, etc.
They will be presenting their findings through charts of examples, or pictures, or tallies, however they decide to present it.

During the course of the first week, students will watch videos and read books about different types of occupations and their outfits and they will be able to make predictions, come up with questions for the school’s janitor, guard, nurse , handyman etc. and come up with a presentation of their findings.
In this group, they will be interviewing for example the responsible of the cafeteria to know why they wear nets , aprons, mittens, chef hats, special shoes, etc.
They can also interview the handy man, the guard, the janitors etc.

During the course of the first week, they will watch videos and receive a visit from an elder that he may tell them about how fashion used to be in their times ( A grandparent maybe.)
Students will come up with questions to ask their parents about Clothes over time and they will present their findings.
They will have come up with predictions on what they think they will find, and they will suggest new types of clothes if necessary and they will recall if they saw different types of clothes somewhere else or sometime else.
+Presenting what they learnedAt the end of the two weeks we will have a showcase where they will show what they learned. They will show materials and dress up with clothes from the past or with differents materials. They may even wear different suites for different occupations.
