    Iconic medium to large tree up to Ht.20m. (Monkey Puzzle). Initially slow growing, an upright tree producing regular tiers of branches with rigid spine tipped, glossy green leaves. An endangered native of the Chilean and Argentinian Andes. Hardy and wind firm, grows best in moist, well drained soil.

    A glasshouse perennial with upright cane-like stems of 1.2m bearing pendulous panicles of pink or coral-red flowers. Introduced by William Lobb from Brazil in 1841. Now very rare in cultivation.Grow in a free-draining, slightly acidic compost in good light but avoiding direct sun, with a minimum winter temperature of 10°C
