Product appearancePart of the character andappeal of high quality hardlandscape products is thetexture and shade variationbetween individual flags.Although every effort is madeto ensure consistency ofproduct colour, variations mayoccur between batches.

WeatheringAll flag and kerb products willweather over time. The natureand extent of changes inappearance will typically beinfluenced by a combinationof the following:

a) Location

b) Degree of exposure

c) Prevailing weatherconditions

d) Quality of installation

Note: Charcon cannot acceptresponsibility for the effect of‘efflorescence’ which can be a characteristic of all good qualityproducts with high cement content.

The phenomenon may be exhibited byan apparent loss of intensity of colourand the appearance of a milky-whitebloom on the face of the product. Theeffect generally disappears with timeand is in no way detrimental to the performance of the product.

6 Kerbs and channels

Standard kerbs and channelsAll of the straight units and most of the radius units arehydraulically pressed, other units being hammer-compactedor wetcast.

All straight kerbs listed are 914mm (3ft) standard lengths. The 125 x 255 HB2 is also available in 609mm (2ft) lengths.

When ordering please state the dimension first, then the profileand finally the description, if applicable, e.g. 125 x 255 HB HB2.

17Road-Pod®

The Road-Pod® is a sustainable precast concrete modularsystem for use as traffic and pedestrian refuge islands.

It offers a very cost effective off-site sustainable solution, with significant savings on cost and installation time. Additionalbenefits include reduction of site time spent in danger andenhancement of pedestrian safety.

A typical unit can be installed over a period of 3-8 hours, withminimum traffic management, compared to 2-3 days with traditionalon-site methods using kerbs, in-situ concrete and asphalt.

The Road-Pod® system is available in a range of sizes to suitvarious applications. There are five types of arrangement, from1.2 m to 1.8 m in width and a number of island combinations.Other widths are available on a made to order basis.

The units come complete with provision for illuminated,reflective or solar powered type bollards, high level and solarpowered columns, cast-in tactile surfaces and lifting points. The weight ranges from 382 kg to 1.93 tonnes.

A pre-applied treatment for paving to easecleaning and maintenance.

Charcon Urban Surface Protection (USP) can be pre-applied to paving before it is delivered and laid. Whilst an element ofcleansing may still be required during the life of the paving, the frequency and severity will be reduced and will lowermaintenance costs.

Charcon USP is supplied as standard on StoneMaster productsand is available on a made to order basis for all other paving.
