The m/s Paul Gauguin was designed specifically to sail the shallow seas of Tahiti and French Polynesia, visiting small ports that larger ships can’t reach and effortlessly blending into the stunning natural beauty of the South Seas. She offers an extension of the informal, relaxing environment of the islands, coupled with five-star service, comfort and luxury. Spacious suites and staterooms (more than 70% with private balconies), an onboard watersports marina, a choice of three open-seating dining venues and an extensive spa are among her luxurious attributes. The atmosphere aboard ship radiates warmth, informality, and Polynesian flair. And our beloved troupe of Gauguines—a local Tahitian group who serve as cruise staff, entertainers and storytellers—add the unique personality of Tahiti to every cruise.

Ambassadors of the Environment Youth ProgramCreated by explorer and environmentalist Jean-Michel Cousteau and his Ocean Futures Society, Ambassadors of the Environment is a unique, groundbreaking program that introduces young travelers to the extraordinary natural wonders of French Polynesia. The program aims to give young participants aged 9 to 17 direct, hands-on, interactive experience with knowledge of marine and island ecosystems.

Nowhere else is the French art de vivre – the art of living – more evident than in the sensory pleasures of our moveable feasts. Of course, at every meal select wines are generously poured, compliments of the house. All part of the legendary tasting and temptings that you’ll encounter aboard our ship. Ask any former guest of Paul Gauguin . This is the finest food served in the South Seas.

L’Etoile Enjoy fine French cuisine with a Polynesian accent amid the classic furnishings and fluted shell lighting reminiscent of one of the refined dining establishments in Paris. Here delectable cuisine is artfully presented and guests receive the most diligent attention.

Le GrillGreet the sun with a buffet breakfast at Le Grill. Or enjoy lunch by the pool on a choice of grilled favorites, salads and fresh tropical fruits. At night Le Grill is transformed into a cozy indoor/outdoor restaurant serving grilled specialties in a more casual atmosphere. Dinner reservations are required at Le Grill.

La VerandaLa Veranda’s floor to ceiling windows, indoor and al fresco seating, and refined atmosphere make it the perfect place to enjoy breakfast and lunch. In both reality and the popular imagination no other country has approached France in terms of elevating its cuisine to a high art form. At dinner, La Veranda is transformed into an elegant French Bistro offering the finest in French cuisine, wine selections and ambiance. The Paul Gauguin chefs have created a menu for La Veranda not merely to explore the culinary highways and byways of France but to provide an extraordinary dining experience that captures the very essence of the country. Dinner reservations are required in La Veranda.

Well-being and vegetarian selections and special dietetic menus upon request.

Casino and Piano BarOn any evening, pulses run high in the Le Casino. Or when refreshments are in order, the Piano Bar provides a warmly relaxing environment.

Le Grand SalonWatch spectacular performances, such as an electrifying Polynesian show featuring the arts of the islands in the main lounge. One night it might be the soaring acappella harmonies of himene songs. Another might feature a thrilling performance of ote’a - a complex line dance accompanied by drums telling the ancestral legends of the Polynesian people. Later in your cruise, you’ll have a chance to learn how to dance in true Polynesian style from our wonderful Gauguines performers.

La Palette LoungeSing along at the piano bar in this spectacular observation lounge atop the ship. At night it’s transformed into a romantic nightclub where a chanteuse sings the Parisian blues and couples sway on the indoor/outdoor dance floor.

DestinationsNested in the cool Pacific waters, Polynesian settlers found a string of emerald islands, fruitful and fertile, carpeted with lush rain forests and vibrant life. Scattered over a vast, 2.5 million square kilometers area in the South Pacific, French Polynesia is made up of several series of islands, atolls, and archipelagoes, independently surrounded by lagoons and barrier reefs that create unique eco-systems and divine respites for the traveler weary of the usual getaway.

Cook IslandsThe Cook Islands are a study in contrasts, with Aitutaki so flat you can see the ocean from virtually any point on the island and Rarotonga made up of jagged peaks and deep valleys.

FijiThe exotic islands of Fiji are one of the South Pacific’s most in-demand destinations, with 300 islands boasting soaring mountains, lush vegetation, shimmering turquoise waters, and seemingly endless expanses of pristine white sand.

MarquesasThe Marquesas lie shrouded in mystery, with their mist-laden mountains and untouched wilderness.

New ZealandDiscover the vibrant Maori culture, unfailing friendli-

ness, and passion for the sea for which New Zealand is famous.

Tahiti & Society IslandsPaul Gauguin was inspired by them, Rogers & Ham-merstein immortalized them in song, and James Mitchener wrote, “Anyone who has ever been there wants to go back.”

TongaNudging the International Dateline, the Kingdom of Tonga is the first country in the world to welcome the new day.

TuamotusThese coral atolls boast some of the most renowned snorkeling and diving on earth. Make anchor at Rangiroa, whose sheltered lagoon is home to dolphins, rays, and myriad colorful tropical fish.

Bora Bora

Day 1: Embark Paul Gauguin in Papeete, TahitiBegin your journey in the capital of Tahiti, the largest and most populated of the French Polynesian islands. This luxurious yet casual, ultra-deluxe vessel will be your home for the next week.

Day 2: RaiateaYou will have the day to explore the island that was once the cultural, religious, royal and political heart of Polynesia, and, according to legend, and lore, as well as Tahiti’s most signifi-cant archeological sites. Ancient Polynesians built maraes, or temples, of stone in many sizes. The maraes provided a physi-cal space for the spirit of the gods to occupy during ritual cer-emonies, as did the carved wooden tikis for which the region is famous. Be sure to visit Taputapuatea, a national monument and the most important marae in the Society Islands. We will bid adieu to Raiatea just before dinner and set sail with the compass set for Motu Mahana.

Day 3: Taha’a (Motu Mahana)Motu Mahana, an islet adjacent to Taha’a, is our very own South Seas paradise featuring white sand beaches with

swaying palms, crystal-clear waters and gentle breezes. As an exclusive Paul Gauguin event, guests will spend a full day exploring this idyllic, isolated island, and relaxing with a delicious barbecue lunch and Polynesian entertainment featuring strolling musicians and singers.

Day 4: Bora BoraImmediately recognizable by the basalt tombstone of Mount Otemanu rising from the ocean, this half-atoll, half-mountain is surrounded by a spectacular lagoon and a series of smaller islands. Ancient Polynesians called it Parapora, or “firstborn,” because they thought it was the first island created after Raiatea.

Day 5: Bora BoraExplore more of this magical isle on your own or on a choice of optional shore excursions. We will set sail before dinner, enjoying a relaxing evening on board.

Day 6: MooreaCovered in an abundance of fresh fruits and flowers, spectacular mountain peaks, peaceful multi-hued lagoons and-fringed beaches – Moorea’s beauty is unsurpassed. During your visit, you might wish to shop for local crafts, embark on a dolphin-watching expedition with a marine biologist and witness these fascinating animals in their amazing natural habitat, or try out some of the local pineapples – said to be the most delicious in all of French Polynesia. An overnight here affords us two full days on Bora Bora’s gorgeous sister island.

Day 7: Moorea/Papeete (Tahiti)Explore more of this peaceful oasis. At the end of the afternoon, we cruise to our home port in Papeete, docking for the night.
