Patient Care
There are so many things involved with patient care it is impossible to be able to narrow it down to just a select few. So lets look at the major parts: PhysiciansInsuranceRecords
IntroductionI have worked in the medical field for over
7 years. I have worked in different areas and have a good idea on how things work.
Things are constantly changing but there are a few things that for the most part really stay the same.
By knowing these things it will make it easier for everyone
What you can have ready for the doctor
Know what resources are available and what tests that can be ran.
Know what is going to be paid for, and what you have to pay for.
Insurance
Your medical records readily available
Any other tests that have been done along with the results ready.
What you should have
Plan it out
If it is a new doctor
• Make sure they covered by your
insurance• Speak with the
doctors office and verify with your insurance
company who is a covered provider
• Make sure the doctors office
has your correct information.
What information is needed
• If it is a Specialist check to see if they need a referral.
• Have the MA send the referral and needed records and get a copy for your records
• Arrive at your appointment time about 15 mins early.
Time is limited
• As an average the doctor has about 20 mins. each visit
• Know what you are going to talk with the doctor about
• If you are going in with multiple concerns maybe write them down most important first
Primary Care Physician
Primary Doctors• It is always good to have a primary care doctor that
way someone else can help keep track of your health• It takes time build a relationship and you have to be
comfortable with who you see
It is a Practice• The doctor does not have all the answers they can
make suggestions• Ask questions and know what works for you
Conclusion
No one likes going to the doctors. It is not an easy or fun process. By having it run more smoothly, makes it not only easier for you, but easier for the doctor as well. That way you can ensure that you get the best care possible.
