Anne Brooke (cover image)“I have worked within the Art field for over 15 years, inspiring young people to be creative through teaching, but now I am finding the time to be creative myself. Over the years I have developed a love and passion for textiles, but as I have an art background I have found a way to combine the two.Inspired by journeys I design and create work based on items that find their way into my pockets on my walks or are captured by my camera. Seed pods and weeds, often overlooked, become transformed by my stitched collages. I use a range of paper and fabric, up-cycling as much as possible, to create my collages. My love of drawing is incorporated, not with a pencil, but with a needle as I love using my sewing machine, and a needle and thread, as a drawing tool.”

Teresa ButlerI was born and raised in the local village of Worstead and have been sewing since the age of five. My first school teacher and an aunt, who taught me to make dolls clothes from recycled garments, are the two people who greatly inspired my life-long love of needlework. As years went by I progressed to making adult clothes, learnt to hand smock for my children in the 80s, ran my own business making bespoke wedding dresses and much, much more... Now that the youngest of my six grandchildren has started school my ‘grandma duties’ are no longer required so I have decided to return to doing what I love most and have started working with needle & fabrics again.I would like others to benefit from the skills I have and look forward to joining the team of tutors at Sew Creative. I will be teaching how to: sew and fit a skirt from a pattern; make alterations, repairs and upcycle a garment; sew and fit a dress from a pattern and hand smock an item.

SEWING MACHINE WORLDAre you perplexed and bewildered by the choice of sewing machines available today? Steve Broomhall of Sewing Machine World will demonstrate a range of current machines and explain the myriad of choices available. Come along to see the latest in sewing machines and accessories.
