ATTENTION ADULT MINISTRY!! July is upon us along with a variety of weather. Remember to keep cool and drink
plenty of water for hydration. Just in case you need a cooler place to be during the day, check with the Cincinnati recreation Center near you, or the Public Library, or the Marielders. They each have a place to sit, read, and/or converse with others. If you need more information or transportation, call a neighbor, a friend or us.!
Our group will not have planned meetings nor lunches during July or August but there are those who are: The Marielders and St Cecelia’s Women’s group. !
The Marielders have a regular calendar but some of the features that might be of interest are : July 20 - lunch at COCK n BULL on Hyde Park Sq., July 25 - noon lunch at Bell Tower park, August 4 -11 am to leave for the REDS GAME, August 8 - a day trip to CONEY ISLAND for lunch on your own, swimming, rides or simply enjoying the day to reminisce, August 26 - lunch with a BRITISH Theme (Beef Stroganoff) at the Center. All Marielders events have a fee and or pay- your-own meal. Call 271-5588 for more information and Reservations. !
St. Cecilia’s Group meet some Saturdays for brunch at 10am: August 6th at IHOP (Oakley Station), August 20th Frisch’s Mainliner (Fairfax) and September 3rd at Bronte, Rookwood. And some Wednesdays or Thursdays for dinner at 6pm: July 20 at TRIO’s, July 28 at National Exemplar, Mariemont, August 17 Habit’s Oakley Square, and August 27 at El Toro, Hyde Park Plaza. Meals are on your own but reservations are needed to assure table space. Contact Carolyn Cook 513-531-3208!
The Adult Ministry Calendar for St.Margaret-St.John Parish will resume in September as well as Marielders and St Cecilia Group.

THIS WEEK’S READINGS JULY 17, 2016
First Reading — Abraham and Sarah show hospitality to messengers of the LORD (Genesis 18:1-10a). Psalm — He who does justice will live in the presence of the Lord (Psalm 15). Second Reading — Paul speaks of the stewardship given to him to complete the word of God, the mystery hidden from ages past (Colossians 1:24-28). Gospel — Martha, you are anxious and worried about many things. Mary has chosen the better part (Luke 10:38-42).
NEXT WEEK’S READINGS
JULY 24, 2016
First Reading — Abraham bargains with God to spare the city (Genesis 18:20-32). Psalm — Lord, on the day I called for help, you answered me (Psalm 138). Second Reading — Buried with Christ in baptism, we were also raised with him; all our transgressions are forgiven (Colossians 2:12-14). Gospel — Jesus speaks of God’s sure response to those who pray (Luke 11:1-13).
WATCH YOUR POSTURE
Our posture is often a tip-off to our hospitality and reverence for the Lord. Note the actions of Abraham as he greeted the Lord in the presence of three men who appeared near his tent. He ran from the entrance of the tent to greet them. He bowed to the ground as he met them. He and Sarah, his wife, hastened to prepare a meal and bring food and water to their guests. In the Gospel story, Jesus’ friend Mary sat at his feet in order to listen to him speak. How do we welcome and reverence the Lord? What do our actions show? Do we remember the Lord’s presence in the Blessed Sacrament? How do we welcome the Lord in the scripture readings? How do we acknowledge his presence in our brothers and sisters, both at Mass and afterwards? Whether we kneel, stand, or sit in the Lord’s presence, may our hearts and minds always be attuned to him.
