We all have opportunities for God to work in our lives and to use us to touch others lives in ways which will cause us to grow in faith. One way that we experience Gods presence the most is, in a sense, by feeling loved; if we do not feel loved, sometimes, we feel empty, and alone. Because we are loved, our lives seem fuller, richer, and complete. When we feel loved, we are able to reach out to others and love them; even when they are unloving. This isnt easy, but is the way of Christs love for us. February is National Heart Health month and Black History month. We celebrate Valentines Day (Feb 14) which is associated with the heart and the love we share with one another; it is a day to celebrate sacrificial love. President s day (Feb 15) is a celebration of Lincolns (12) and Wash- ingtons (20) birthday. Its a three-day weekend, and for some students a day off from school. As National Heart health month, as I share each year; we should learn to know the warning signs for stroke and heart attacks, and if possible, get a check-up. (Words we all should heed, myself in- cluded.) As we think of the heart, and the close connection love has to the heart and our feelings. Love is the emotion which helps us to live fuller and more complete lives. Love draws us together in a close bond, which life, and death can never separate; love is evidence of Gods presence. Love lifts us up and helps us develop our lives and relationships. By forming our relationships in Gods love, we come to realize that we are loved, and can love each other. February is also Black history month, in re- gards to this, I remind everyone that our great na- tion has at times neglected or even hindered the rights and freedoms of some people. Freedom is not a race or color issue; it is a human issue which needs constant attention. We need to be accounta- ble not just to each other, but to God, as we learn to love each other as Christ has loved us. It is a time in which we come to The Lords Table for Holy Communion, as often as it is served in churches (Weekly, Monthly, or seasonal- ly), especially in this sacred season. One of the more traditional invitations to the Lords Table, includes the words, Lift up your hearts, this is the Sursum Corda. At the Lords Table, Jesus gives himself to us; reminding us we are Gods redeemed children; we lift our hearts in thanksgiv- ing for Gods grace towards us. If our hearts are burdened, weighed down by fear, anxiety, and sin, it is difficult for us to lift up our hearts to God. Sometimes a good heart exam should include, not just a physical one, but also a spiritual examina- tion as well. How much do you feel loved, and how have you shown loving this season? Since you have experienced Gods love in your life, are you showing that love to those who need it most:: the lest, the lost, the lonely and unloved? With Jesus in our lives, let us Lift up our hearts to the Lord, and ask God to help us show love to one another, as Christ first loved. Pastor’s Letter

I hope in this New Year, you are experienc-ing God’s presence each day.

We all have opportunities for God to work in our lives and to use us to touch others lives in ways which will cause us to grow in faith. One way that we experience God’s presence the most is, in a sense, by feeling loved; if we do not feel loved, sometimes, we feel empty, and alone. Because we are loved, our lives seem fuller, richer, and complete. When we feel loved, we are able to reach out to others and love them; even when they are unloving. This isn’t easy, but is the way of Christ’s love for us.

February is National Heart Health month and Black History month. We celebrate Valentine’s Day (Feb 14) which is associated with the heart and the love we share with one another; it is a day to celebrate sacrificial love. President’s day (Feb 15) is a celebration of Lincoln’s (12) and Wash-ington’s (20) birthday. It’s a three-day weekend, and for some students a day off from school.

As National Heart health month, as I share each year; we should learn to know the warning signs for stroke and heart attacks, and if possible, get a check-up. (Words we all should heed, myself in-cluded.) As we think of the heart, and the close connection love has to the heart and our feelings. Love is the emotion which helps us to live fuller and more complete lives. Love draws us together in a close bond, which life, and death can never separate; love is evidence of God’s presence. Love lifts us up and helps us develop our lives and relationships. By forming our relationships in God’s love, we come to realize that we are loved, and can love each other.

February is also Black history month, in re-gards to this, I remind everyone that our great na-tion has at times neglected or even hindered the rights and freedoms of some people. Freedom is not a race or color issue; it is a human issue which

needs constant attention. We need to be accounta-ble not just to each other, but to God, as we learn to love each other as Christ has loved us. A song I learned: Jesus Loves the Little Children … (you know the words)

The Lenten season begins (Ash Wed 17) this month also; as followers of Jesus Christ, we take this season to review and reflect upon Jesus’ teaching, his sacrifice: death and resurrection.

It is a time in which we come to The Lord’s Table for Holy Communion, as often as it is served in churches (Weekly, Monthly, or seasonal-ly), especially in this sacred season. One of the more traditional invitations to the Lord’s Table, includes the words, “Lift up your hearts,” this is the ‘Sursum Corda.’ At the Lord’s Table, Jesus gives himself to us; reminding us we are God’s redeemed children; we lift our hearts in thanksgiv-ing for God’s grace towards us. If our hearts are burdened, weighed down by fear, anxiety, and sin, it is difficult for us to lift up our hearts to God. Sometimes a good heart exam should include, not just a physical one, but also a spiritual examina-tion as well. How much do you feel loved, and how have you shown loving this season? Since you have experienced God’s love in your life, are you showing that love to those who need it most:: the lest, the lost, the lonely and unloved? With Jesus in our lives, let us “Lift up our hearts to the Lord,” and ask God to help us show love to one another, as Christ first loved.

Please read the words the Apostle Paul wrote to Titus; they can be applied in our day.

Each year, Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of Lent and is always 46 days before Easter Sunday. Lent is a 40-day season (not counting Sundays) marked by repentance,

fasting, reflection, and ultimately celebration. The 40-day period represents Christ’s time of tempta-tion in the wilderness, where he fasted and where Satan tempted him. Lent asks believers to set aside a time each year for similar fasting, marking an intentional season of focus on Christ’s life, ministry, sacrifice, and resurrection.

Ash Wednesday – February 17, 2021

Valentine's Day – February 14, 2021

Love is in the air on Valentine’s Day on February 14. Even though we believe that love should be spread and celebrated every day, we don’t always remember to do that. So on this dedicated day, go above and beyond in expressing your love for family, friends, and of course, your significant other.

Presidents Day – February 15, 2021

Presidents Day is celebrated every year on the third Monday of Febru-ary - February 15 this year. All the presidents in American history are remembered and honored for their exemplary work in making America the great country it is today.

Throughout January and February the weekly focus and messages at church will center on the mystery of Jesus’ birth, early life and call

to ministry, which leads us into the Lenten Season. Lent begins with Ash Wednesday

on Feb 17; a day which Christians prepare for the days of Lent leading into Holy Week and

Easter (March 28-April 4)

Where friends meet to worship!

We’re on the Web at

www.caldwellohumc.org

While continuing to pray for all of our members and friends, please take the time to pick up the phone and call someone who is shut-in for whatever reason.

Many are feeling depressed and lonesome during these unique times and a call would be greatly appreciated and only takes a few minutes.

We all need to feel we are still part of the ‘family’ even as we stay distanced.

PRAYER CONCERNS

Those sick and in quarantine, those hospitalized, and our shut-ins; for those we love who are in care centers, assisted living and nursing care. We pray for our Nation, to bring healing, to help us find peace and direction for the days ahead. We pray for Pastor’s, Church leaders and congregations as we shine the Light of Christ and the

Love of God, to a world in need. We pray for our school students, teachers and staff .

We remember the inmates and staff at NCI. We pray for special unspoken requests,

and for each other. In Jesus Name we pray. Amen

(If you have a name to add to the prayer list, please let the Pastor or office know)
