ST. ANTHONY PARISH KANSAS CITY, MO

Dear friends in Christ, Today, is the last Sunday before the arrival —the Advent— of God in Bethlehem. So as to be the same as us in everything, He wanted to be conceived —as any other person— in the womb of a woman, the Virgin Mary, but by the action and grace of the Holy Spirit, as He was God. Very soon, on Christmas Day, we will celebrate His birth with great joy. Knowing the attitude of total faith on Mary's part, when the angel announced that God had chosen her to be his earthly mother, Elizabeth is eager to proclaim the happiness and joy that faith gives. She underlines this saying: “Blessed are you who believed that what was spoken to you by the Lord would be fulfilled.” (Lk 1:45). So we must live Christmas with faith.

Dear Parishioners, Christmas, beyond the celebration and the gifts, is a great opportunity to connect with ourselves and reflect in a sim-ple way about the true spirit that this date contains. I want you to reflect in the gift of Gratitude. Gratitude is essential; is to realize how good we are and have at this moment, without the need for new external ele-ments. If there was a gift that I could give to each one, it is the invitation to practice the power of thanks for just a few minutes. The effect it instantly generates within us is impressive, changing our internally and making us happier, grateful with God and others and, of course, more festive. If we could integrate gratitude and put it into practice, this would most likely be a much more special date and with a more lov-ing and transcendent meaning. This is my wish and my gift for each of you since I am also grateful for each one of you and your families as my family from God. Merry Christmas to everyone.

Blessings to you and family during this holy year of Jubilee path to the centennial! St. Anthony, pray for us. In Christ, Fr Andrés

SUNDAY : FORTH SUNDAY OF ADVENT DECEMBER 19, 2021
