A Classic ReturnsSince their first publication in 1970, the beloved books of James Alfred
Wight, published under the pen name James Herriot, have held a special place in people’s hearts throughout the world.
This new television adaptation preserves the rich spirit, tone and values of Herriot’s iconic characters and stories and will bring to life his keenly observant, entertaining and incredibly funny tales of country life in the North of England for a modern audience.
Says Rebecca Eaton, Executive Producer of MASTERPIECE, “We promise that the new series will have all the wit, warmth, and quirky charm of the original — and of course, lots of irresistible animals.”
The new All Creatures Great and Small will air Sundays, beginning Jan. 10 at 8 pm/9 Mtn.

From the Board…As 2020 draws to a close, I wanted to extend a personal, heartfelt thank you to all of
our viewers, partners and stewards. Over the last year, our communities have faced many unexpected and unprecedented challenges. We have had to endure loss and isolation. For many, their jobs vanished overnight. The family paradigm changed. Parents were forced to choose between work and daycare. Remote learning became the ‘new normal’ for children. Family and community supports were stretched to their limits. Yet, we continue to persevere.
It is with your continued support and commitment that KSPS has been able to provide entertainment, professional development and educational programming when it is needed most. We continue to be a venue for civil discussion and trusted programing, as well as a curator and promoter of regional arts and culture in a way that is accessible to all.
Your generosity and unwavering humanity in this time of need is overwhelming and for that I thank you.Sincerely,
Jeffrey AdamsChair, Friends of KSPS Board of Directors

Influenced by abstract expressionist painters, Spokane artist Mel McCuddin uses fingers, rags and brushes to create his unconventional animal and human subjects.
Meet Nick Zentner, teacher, geologist and host of Nick on the Rocks — Thursday evenings on KSPS. If anyone can get you excited about geology, it’s Nick!

February NW Profiles encore: Thursday, Feb. 25, 8 pm
Violence at HomeThursday, Jan. 21, 8 pmA community health survey revealed that family trauma and violence are top concerns in Spokane. The county sees more domestic violence, child abuse & neglect and youth suicide per-capita than most in Washington. And recent statistics don’t reflect what’s happening since the start of the pandemic. In collaboration with community partners, we address the root causes of these conditions and offer help & solutions for victims.
Housing is Health Thursday, Feb. 18, 8 pmPoverty and the lack of affordable housing are major causes of homelessness in Spokane, pushing increasing numbers of women and families with children into unhealthy and unsafe living conditions. Local charity, business and community leaders discuss efforts to solve the problem and what still needs to be done.

A Pause to Say Thank YouI hope you will spend a few minutes looking through the attached Annual Report for the 2019-2020 fiscal year, complete with a
letter from General Manager Gary Stokes. When you do, please take a bow for the important part YOU have played in making all those accomplishments possible. You have helped us apply the unique capabilities of Public Television to meet urgent needs. Your support has made it happen.
As we look ahead to a better year in 2021, your membership continues to make all the difference. The confidence in your support of television that celebrates life’s possibilities…that enables lifelong learning…that is here for everyone… allows KSPS to move boldly into an unknown future. You truly do make it possible. Thank you!
With gratitude,Dawn Bayman, Director of Development
The Heart of KSPS PBSLet’s take one more moment to recognize just what it is that makes all this — every news report,
insightful conversation, thrilling discovery, inspiring moment — possible: you and your generous support for KSPS PBS at times like this.
KSPS PBS can remain a vibrant public service year after year because the community we serve and report to every day is also the one that provides the great majority of our funding.
YOU are the public at the heart of KSPS PBS’s public mission.
In these remaining days of an extraordinarily challenging year for everyone, your year-end strong support now is especially important. It will help bring you the information, insights, and inspiration you and so many others will count on often throughout 2021. All this means this is a moment to act.
It takes only a few moments to make your powerful year-end donation to KSPS PBS, but your generosity now will reward you in all the moments you spend with KSPS PBS in 2021.

Investments & Partnerships UpdateAs 2021 dawns, please accept the heartfelt gratitude of the KSPS PBS development staff. YOUR support has helped millions of
people in the Inland Northwest and western Canada, providing: the wonderful respite of PBS television; on-air performances by local artists; and educational programs for our kids and their families as they make a success of the school year. Better days are ahead and KSPS PBS will be there for you.

Prevue Editor Doug Minor RetiresIf you’ve read an issue of this guide at any time since the 1990s, you’ve enjoyed the work of
Doug Minor, Editor of Prevue.
Since the early 1990s, Doug could be found writing and editing articles about events and initiatives, preparing images to highlight our programs and figuring out how to squeeze a ton of information into the limited number of pages in each issue of Prevue. His warm and friendly writing style has given Prevue the personality we all gladly invite into our TV rooms.
In his “spare” time, Doug also managed the front pages of our website and created a wide variety of print pieces, including the Annual Report. He has been an effective communicator, manager of our logo and advocate for sharing the best of KSPS with all of our members. He also happens to be a champion mountain bike rider, resourceful do-it-yourselfer around his beautiful property and, with his wife Kathy, proud grandparent as of last February.
This is Doug’s last issue of Prevue. He plans to retire at the end of January. As he said, “My thanks to KSPS for the freedom, the occasional prodding and the encouragement to grow in my craft. It has been a position that grew with me and truly evolved into my dream job. For that I am grateful.”
Doug, we are all grateful to you for the decades of hard work and creativity you’ve given to KSPS. Congratulations on a job very well done and a well-earned retirement!
