9am9pm All Day Confessions ReflectionEach year on this Sunday we follow the events of Jesus’ life from the time he entered Jerusalem until the point where he was laid in the tomb after his crucifixion. Jesus first entered Jerusalem riding a donkey amid waving palm leaves. It was in Jerusalem that he fore-told Judas’ betrayal, Peter’s denial, and established the Eucharist at the Passover meal. Jesus took his disciples into Gethsemane to pray, but they could not stay awake with him. In the garden Jesus was turned over to the authorities, tried before the Sanhedrin, brought to Pilate, and sentenced to death. When offered a choice during the festival to release a prisoner, the people chose the release of Barabbas. Their choice was beyond Pilate’s comprehension, so he symbolically washed his hands of the whole deal. Jesus was turned over to the Roman authorities for crucifixion and mocked by them. Finally, Jesus died on the cross. The earth darkened and quaked. He was prepared quickly for burial and laid in the tomb.Pray For Those Becoming Catholic We’re asking you to please pray for all the candidates going through the Vantage Point experience as they approach the celebration of their sacraments at the Easter Vigil.CHRISM MASSMonday, April 10th,7:00pm, Cathedral of St. Peter-in-ChainsBishop Jean-Louis Plouffe (Bishop Emeritus of Sault Sainte Marie) will bless the Oil of the Sick, the Oil of Catechumens and Sacred Chrism which will be used in the celebration of the Sacraments in the Diocese of Peterborough. The Holy Chrism consecrated by the Bishop is used to anoint the newly-baptized, to seal the faithful in Confirmation, and to anoint the hands of Priests and the heads of Bishops at their Ordination. In addition, the Chrism is used in the rites associated with the dedica-tion of churches and altars. The Oil of Catechumens is used to bring strength to those preparing for Baptism. The Oil of the Sick is used to bring comfort and support to the sick in their infirmity. The participation of representatives from parishes throughout the Diocese displays the unity of the body of Christ which gathers to worship God in spirit and in truth. All are welcome!Holy Thursday Last SupperThe parish will be hosting a dinner to represent the Lord’s “Last Sup-per”. Please join us Holy Thursday, April 13th at 6pm in the Par-ish Hall. Mass will follow at 8:00pm. $10 tickets are available at the Welcome Desk or the Parish Office on Monday. 5 & under free. HOLY WEEKThis is now the week which precedes the great feast of the Resurrection of our Lord on Easter Sunday—it included the last days of Lent and the beginning of the Easter Triduum. During Holy Week, the Church celebrates the mysteries of salvation accomplished by Christ in the last days of his life on earth, beginning with his messianic entrance into Jerusalem.

EASTER TRIDUUM (Holy Thursday to Easter Sunday)The Easter Triduum begins with the Mass of the Lord’s Supper on Holy Thursday at 8pm. The Gospel of the Last Supper, describes Jesus washing the feet of His disciples. After the Gospel is proclaimed, the ceremony of the washing of the feet takes place to teach us that Eucharist (Thanksgiving) must mean giving up our lives in memory of Him. Following Holy Communion the Blessed Sacrament is taken in solemn procession through the Church. Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament at the Altar of Repose (Parish Hall) will take place until midnight.Good Friday is a day of Fast and Abstinence. On Holy Thursday, Jesus said, “This is my body, which will be given up for you.” On Good Friday He did it. The simple, perhaps austere liturgy at 10am and 3pm, is filled with joy and hope. The red vestments symbolize the martyrdom of Jesus. The proclamation of the Passion portrays Christ as the conqueror of sin and death. The intercessions, especially solemn today, are for the world which Christ redeemed. The Cross is acclaimed in solemn procession and we venerate it as the Cross of life and victory. Mass is never celebrated on good Friday, but we do receive Holy Communion (hosts are consecrated Holy Thursday). Sacraments are not celebrated until the Easter Vigil, Saturday night at 8pm. The holy water fonts will be emptied and the “Easter” candle removed.Holy Saturday, Easter Vigil at 8pm, we take up our vigil at the tomb. The sun will be setting upon arrival. We will recall the world in darkness, the Easter fire will be lit at the back of the Church and the Easter proclamation will be sung as individual candles are lit. Tonight, we celebrate our Passover with Christ from darkness to light, from death to new life! He is Risen! Consider experiencing the divine love of Jesus Christ, our true Saviour—in His humanity and as God for us.

Tabs from CansWe are still collecting tabs from cans to help raise money to get wheelchairs for those who cannot afford them. Enough tabs were collected to get 10 year old Jacob from Courtice a wheelchair! Tabs can be left in the church Narthex or brought to the office. Thank you. Milk Bags MatsWe are also still collecting the outer milk bags to be cut into strips and crocheted into mats for third world country people so they do not have to sleep directly on the dirt floors with bugs. We have a wonderful parishioner dedicated to this mission.

Perez’s detailed insights of those last three days offer a moving look into the loving heart of the Messiah, as well as detailed de-

scriptions of Jesus’ intense emotional and physical sufferings. With this knowledge, our hearts can only love Him more.“This opened my eyes to the reality of Jesus’ great love for humanity.” - ShirleyWe ask for a donation of $5 per DVD which can be found in the Narthex.
