01Luxurious Vienna leather upholstery*is not only sumptuous,

it also has the practicality of being easy to clean, and is durable and

hard wearing. The front seats are also heated for extra comfort during

the cold weather.

02 The RNS 315 touch-screen navigation/DAB radio system with

MP3 compatible CD playerfeatures eight speakers, crystal clear digital

audio broadcasts, a 5 inch colour display with clearly arranged map

navigation, as well as an SD card reader and practical AUX-in socket

for connecting external audio devices such as an iPod or MP3 player.

03 Parking sensorsmake parking manoeuvres less challenging by

emitting an audible warning, alerting the driver to any obstacles in the

way:the closer you are to an obstacle the faster the sound frequency.

automatic air recirculation, courtesy of an air quality sensor, provides

temperature controls that can be individually adjusted by the driver and

front passenger, enabling them to set their own desired temperature.

The system ensures all passengers enjoy a comfortable journey and the

temperature selected is displayed accurately, within half a degree Celsius.

05 Chrome detailingforms an elegant frame for the windows, giving

greater denition to the roof and door lines. Front, side and rear bumper

trims also feature chrome.

Estate Alltracks front and rear its distinctive, purist o-road design, and

when you choose the 2.0 TDI 177 PS DSG engine, twin chrome exhaust

Uneven ground or urban parking space, parking sensors both front and

02The Passat Estate Alltrack with intelligent 4MOTION four wheel

driveas standard, distributes power to all four wheels as required and

03 Anthracite wheel arch protection , side sill protection in anthracite

and matt chrome eect and the structural design of the 18 inch Canyon

alloy wheels with 225/45 R18 ContiSeal (self-sealing) tyres make each,

04 The Passat Estate Alltrack is instantly recognisable by its Gloss Black

radiator grille with matt chrome louvres, as well as matt chrome detailing

on front fog light surrounds, door mirrors, roof rails, window surrounds

and underbody protection. The honeycomb front air intake completes t he

metallic paint.

05 The 2.0 litre TDI 177PS DSG engine features XDS, an extension of

the well-known Electronic Dierential Lock (EDL) function . This is linked

to the Electronic Stability Control (ESC) hydraulics and works by applying

pressure to the inner front wheel during fast cornering to prevent wheel-

spin. Optional on 2.0 litre TDI 140 PS engine.

The most important consideration

for any driver is safety. Thats why

its so reassuring to drive the Passat.

With a whole range of safety

features included as standard, the

Passat provides the highest levels of

safety possible, ensuring optimum

protection in hazardous situations.

01Driver fatigue is a major cause of road accidents, accounting for

up to 20% of serious accidents on monotonous roads, such as motorways,

in Great Britain. Fatigue related crashes are often more severe than others

because the drivers reaction times are delayed or they have failed to make

any manoeuvres to avoid a crash. With these facts in mind, Volkswagen

has developed the Driver Alert systemwhich gives an early warning

of when you need to take a break on long and tiring journeys, making

motorway driving safer. The system works by monitoring driver behaviour

closely, noting any erratic steering wheel movements and lane deviations.

If the system detects an erratic or unusual driving pattern, it will alert you

with a visual display on the dashboard and an audible warning sound,

and if you havent taken a break within 15 minutes, it will repeat the

warnings. The Driver Alert system is just one of a number of Volkswagens

innovative driver assistance systems, designed to make driving easier,

more comfortable and, above all, safer. Standard on Executive, Executive

Style and Alltrack models. Optional on all other models as part of cruise

control or as part of Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) on S models.

02The Electronic Stability Control (ESC)recognises critical driving

situations and reacts in milliseconds by targeting brake and management

systems, controlling the speed of individual wheels and helping to bring the

vehicle under control. As a result the vehicle achieves maximum directional

stability. Standard on all models.

03 Optional Side scanmakes motorway driving safer by helping to

prevent accidents when you want to change lanes. The radar system

monitors the areas to the left and right of the car and up to 50 metres

behind it, and should it detect a potentially hazardous situation, it warns

you by means of ashing warning lights in the door mirror housing.

Optional on all models. Side scan must be ordered in conjunction with

Convenience pack on S and BlueMotion models.

01 Adaptive Cruise Control

(ACC)and the radar sensor

controlled Front Assist system

adapt your speed to that of the

vehicle ahead and maintain a

constant distance set by the driver.

If Front Assist detects you are

getting too close to the vehicle in

front, it will warn you in two stages:

visually and acoustically, and will

then automatically start braking,

to a standstill if necessary.

Optional on all models except

BlueMotion. S models include

Driver Alert system.

Not in conjunction with 1.4 litre TSI 122 PS

or 1.6 litre TDI 105 PS engines.

02The Keyless entry system

enables you to enter your vehicle

and even start the engine using a

button in the centre console, without

taking the key out of your pocket.

In addition, this option on Passat

Saloon models can also be specied

with hands free boot openingwhich

uses a sensor beneath the rear

bumper, so having your hands full

while trying to open your boot is no

longer a chore. Estate models

(excluding Alltrack) can also be

specied with hands free tailgate

openingas well as featuring an

electric tailgate.

03 Dynamic Chassis Control

(DCC) allows you to select Sport,

Comfort or Normal settings for your

journey with a touch of a button,

and adapts the damping control and

shock absorption rate to the road

conditions and driving style you

require within milliseconds. Optional

on S, Executive and Alltrack models.

04 Bi-xenon headlightsfeature

dynamic curve lighting and

automatic range adjustment

providing better illumination of the

road ahead, on bends and when

turning. LED daytime running lights

are a striking feature and LED rear

tail lights ensure your vehicle is more

visible during the day. As an added

convenience, headlight washers keep

your headlights free from dirt at all

times. Standard on Executive Style

and optional on all other models.

On S, BlueMotion and Executive

models, this option also includes

front fog lights.

Bi-xenon headlights not in conjunction with

High Beam Assist.

05 Volkswagens Park Assist system

has long made parallel parking

signicantly easier. However, this

system combines conventional Park

Assist with the added functionality

of reverse parking into a space at

90 to the kerb. The driver activates

the system by pressing a button on

the centre console. Using ultrasonic

parking sensors, Park Assist will

detect a large enough parking space

for either reverse or parallel parking

and the assisted parking process can

begin. Having put the vehicle into

reverse, all the driver has to do is

operate the accelerator, clutch and

brake, while keeping a good lookout.

Volkswagen service.The Volkswagen Warranty.Three-year Warranty.All Volkswagen passenger cars come with a three-year/60,000 miles warranty, which protects your

car against the failure of most technical and electrical components due to manufacturing defects. This

comprises a two-year manufacturers warranty with unlimited mileage plus a further one-year/60,000

miles (whichever is soonest) Retailer Warranty 1. Should the mileage exceed 60,000 miles within the

first two years, the manufacturers two-year warranty will still be valid. Full details of the three-year

warranty are available from your authorised Volkswagen retailer or repairer.

Body Protection Warranty.The internal body sections and panels of the Passat are covered against rusting through from the

inside for 12 years. Naturally, the vehicle must be cared for in compliance with the operating

instructions. Please consult your authorised Volkswagen retailer or repairer for full warranty details.

Three-year Paintwork Warranty.This latest warranty, pioneered by Volkswagen, really provides you with the widest possible cover

on a new car. There are no special conditions attached and paintwork manufacturing defects will

be rectified without charge. Naturally, during the warranty period the car must be cared for in

compliance with the operating instructions.

Approved Accessories.A comprehensive range of accessories from alloy wheels to carpet mats is available to complement

the factory-fitted option list. Volkswagen approved accessories purchased from and fitted by your

authorised Volkswagen retailer at the point of vehicle sale will also benefit from the three-year

vehicle warranty.

Extended Warranty.If you order the Volkswagen Extended Warranty as an option when buying your new Passat then

you get the 100% Volkswagen Warranty and you can continue to enjoy comprehensive Volkswagen

protection against many unforeseeable repair costs. Designed to your needs, you can purchase an

extra one or two years warranty up to a maximum of five years or 90,000 miles.

Service Intervals.Volkswagen is pleased to offer you a choice on how your Volkswagen is serviced. The appropriate

selection is entirely dependent on how the car is likely to be driven and its general use. To help you

identify which type of service would be most suitable, please refer to the following guide.

The Fixed Service is recommended for vehicles that will cover less than 10,000 miles in 12 months

and if the vehicle is likely to be used in the following way:

Predominantly urban driving, short journeys with frequent cold starts.

Activities regularly producing high engine loading, e.g. frequent hill climbs, driving with vehicle

fully loaded and towing.

Uneconomical driving style using high rpms with heavy acceleration and heavy braking.

The service intervals for the Fixed Service are as follows:

Oil change service

After 1 year or 10,000 miles (15,000km), whichever is soonest.

Inspection service 2

First after 2 years or 20,000 miles (30,000km), then every one year or 20,000 miles (30,000km),

whichever is soonest.

The Flexible Service is recommended for vehicles with daily mileage of more than 25 miles where

the vehicle is driven regularly mainly on longer distance journeys. The vehicle is driven mainlyat a constant speed with minimum vehicle and engine loading, minimal towing and driven in an
