PARTNER PERFECTION: 1-STEP EQUATIONS
EASY DIFFERENTIATION!!
TEACHER DIRECTIONS
These worksheets are meant to be used as a partner activity. There are two versions: a worksheet with columns 1 and 2 and a worksheet with columns A and B. The answers are the same for both versions. For example:
Some ideas for how to use this activity in your classroom:• Use the single header versions and give a worksheet to every student. Have the
pairs decide who will complete which column.• As a solo assignment or homework: Use the single header version and allow
students to choose which column to complete for each problem. This allows the students some choice, which they always appreciate.
• Cut the double header versions in half and distribute to students based on who you want to work together. Sometimes if there are students whom I DO NOT want to work together I will make sure they get the same columns. Then I’ll tell the class to find a partner that has a different column.
• Pair higher level students with your struggling learners to allow more support. Give the higher level student a 1 or 2 column and the lower level student an A or B column. This way they can both be working at their appropriate level, but also working cooperatively. And their answers will still match!!!!

THE NEXT SET OF SLIDES HAS THE SAME ANSWERS AS THE 1,2 WORKSHEET ABOVE, BUT WITH EASIER PROBLEMS. THE A,B WORKSHEET DOESN’T HAVE AS MANY FRACTIONS, DECIMALS, OR NEGATIVES. IT DOES INCLUDE A FEW OF EACH, BUT THEY ARE AN EASIER LEVEL THAN THE 1,2 WORKSHEET. AND THE ANSWERS STILL MATCH!
