Volunteer Role: Ethnic Minorities Officer Role Purpose To represent and act as the voice for, as well as promote, extend and defend the rights of ethnic minority students to both the University and Kent Union as well as organising events to help celebrate Ethnic Minority students rights at the University of Kent.

Role Activities: In your role, you will: Arrange events and campaigns for Ethnic Minorities Students. Communicate regularly with all Ethnic Minorities students. Promote Ethnic Minorities student issues to Kent Union and the University. Attend relevant Kent Union and University Meetings. Help with and promote Kent Union campaigns. Attend and take an active part in the Campaigns Forum and the Union Executive Committee

and attend mentor/staff support meetings. Please note missed attendance may result in a vote of no confidence.

Role Benefits: In your role, you will have the opportunity to: Develop new skills such as advocacy, representation and leadership. Use your role to log hours towards the Kent Student Certificate in Volunteering Award [KSCV]

Volunteer Role: Undergraduate Faculty Representative Role Purpose: To represent, and act for the voice for all Undergraduate Students in your Faculty Learning & Teaching Committee Meetings, as well as at Union Council. Role Activities: In your role, you will: Attend and take an active part in Faculty Learning & Teaching Committee meetings. Support Course Reps and School Reps within your faculty. Hold and chair monthly Faculty School Committee meetings with School Reps. Attend and take an active part in Education Forums. Attend Course Rep and Part-Time Officer training. Communicate regularly with all Undergraduate Course and School Reps within your Faculty and

with Kent Union’s Vice-President (Education). Meet with the Dean of the Faculty and other Faculty staff regularly. Help with and promote education campaigns. Attend and take an active part in the Campaigns Forum and the Union Executive Committee

Role Activities: In your role, you will: Support and communicate regularly with all the PGT Course Reps within your Faculty, the KGSA

President, and Kent Union’s Vice-President (Education). Attend and take an active part in Faculty Graduate Studies Committee and Graduate School

Board (GSB) meetings. Attend and take an active part in Postgraduate Education Forums. Attend and take an active part in the Campaigns Forum and the Student Executive Committee. Help with and promote education and Postgraduate Campaigns.

Volunteer Role: Student Trustee Role Purpose:

The Trustees are ultimately responsible, individually and collectively, for all activity within Kent Union. The Board of Trustees is responsible for setting the vision and values of the organisation and for ensuring the delivery of organisational purpose. The Trustees ensure development of and agree a long-term strategy and approve and monitor plans to deliver the strategy. Key Responsibilities:

Trustees are accountable for delivering the responsibilities detailed in the Terms of Reference of the Board of Trustees. Notwithstanding this, all Trustees have a duty to: Ensure that Kent Union acts in accordance with its charitable objects, constitution and other

guiding documents and, in particular, remains true to its Mission, Vision and Values. Ensure decisions of the Board and its Committees take account of the needs and views of Kent

Union’s members. Help Kent Union achieve its objectives and improve the lives of its members. Ensure that Kent Union complies with all relevant legislation and regulations, including relevant
