Emily did her Arts Award at the Level Centre in Derbyshire
The Level Centre had two exhibitions during the Arts Award Sessions; ‘Pulse’ which was a response to Derbyshire’s longest ever artwork ‘Derwent Pulse’ and ‘Small Worlds’ an exhibition as a result of The Level Centre’s collaboration with DADDA in Australia, with art works created by learning disabled artists from both organisations. Emily found out about the exhibitions and participated in activities, which interacted with the artwork.

As part of the SMALL WORLDS exhibition the group watched a film by Simon Marchment called Bagism – this was a response to Yoko Ono and John Lennon’s idea ‘if everyone wore a bag there would be no prejudice in the world’Emily had a go at being inside one of the large bags made by Simon. She then learnt to make and decorate a small bag before she made her own life

PART – ATAKING PART
After seeing all the Small world exhibits the group took part in a photography session, themed on small worlds. They created small worlds using all sorts of everyday materials such as flour, fruit, sewing materials, rocks, toys, cardboard, ice-cream cones and shredded wheat…………….They placed tiny tiny little figures into the small worlds and took close up
PART CShare my Arts Award Discover experience with others The whole group shared their art work with their parents. They performed in their life-sized bags. There was music by the Beatles and a projection of Abbey Road Album Cover.
We also had a sharing session with parents , the rest of our Youth Group and the support workers where we saw a presentation of all of the work for Arts Award Discover.
