If you are not sure which day to come, please refer to the activity. ►A Participation Waiver is required for each activity – See back page. Parents are asked to use the FREE supervised childcare provided in the Preschool Room in the Kerr McGee Center and not to bring their children into the registration rooms. Please help make registration as orderly as possible. Child care will be open from 5:30 – 7:30 pm. Beginning Wednesday, June 8th registration for ALL programs will be taken on a space available basis at the Parks & Recreation Department. Questions? PARENTS – Please plan your child’s schedule of activities carefully as there will be an administrative fee of $5.00 (per occurrence) assessed for changes made to a child’s registration when changing from one activity to another. For REFUND or Class CANCELLATION policy, please refer below.

REFUNDS If your class is canceled, you may request a full refund or have credit applied to any other program within the next year. All other refunds will be granted prior to 2 business days (Mon – Fri) of the first class meeting less a 20% administrative fee. All refunds will be mailed to participants. NO REFUNDS OR CREDIT will be given within 2 business days (Mon-Fri) of the first class meeting.

SUMMER DAY CAMP This program is for youth ages 6 - 11. Camp will provide boys and girls with a fun filled and informative summer. Some activities to be offered are swimming, bowling, movies, drama, crafts, games, and much more. Eleven one-week sessions will be offered. Program runs Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the Kerr McGee Community Center. The center will not be open before 7:00 a.m. Please pick up your child(ren) by 5:30 p.m. There is a late fee of $10.00 per five minutes per child after 5:30 p.m. The fees are $100.00 per week with no half days. There is a $25.00 non-refundable deposit required PER session to hold your spot and is deducted from the $100.00 per week fee, balance is due Friday prior to the start of each session. Payments made after 5:30 pm on Monday of each session will be assessed a $20.00 late fee. There is a $5.00 discount for additional children in one family. (REGISTRATION DEADLINE: Friday prior to start of a session) Registration is at the Kerr McGee Center.

SIGN UP BY July 8! The UK International Soccer Camp is once again coming back to Ridgecrest this summer. UK International was established in 1990. Since that time, they have developed an excellent reputation and have become one of the largest providers of soccer instruction within the Western United States. Don’t miss out this year! UK International coaches are primarily from Great Britain and have been specially selected for their expertise in teaching children the game of soccer. The camp program is age appropriate; child centered and designed to work on specific technical skills and tactical situations. The coaches work with the same group of children for the whole week and establish a rapport that supports the development of the individual player. Combining education with fun in a safe environment ensures “The Best Possible Soccer Experience”. We will once again be offering local families the opportunity to “Host a Coach” during camp week, (Sunday – Saturday). Staying in the homes of local families gives the UK coaches a taste of life in the United States, while the host families benefit by learning about the British way of life and its cultural differences. Every year the coaches that have stayed with families in the community have found the experience both enjoyable and rewarding. It’s an excellent chance for your youngsters to see life from a different perspective, therefore enhancing their soccer education. UK International Soccer Camps is an excellent day camp program for all soccer players in the Ridgecrest area from 4 - 16 years of age. On the Saturday after camp from 9 am - 12 noon there will be a free Coaches Clinic (10 people minimum), a Striker’s Clinic for $20 per player and a Goalkeeper’s Clinic for $20 per player. 2011 SUMMER SWIM TEAM: The IWV Swim Team is offering summer seasonal membership from June 13th, 2011 to August 19th. Fee is $145 for all experience levels and includes IWV Swim Team Cap, seasonal registration (covers insurance and Central California Swimming/USA Swimming membership), pool expenses and coaching. Military are offered a $25 seasonal discount. Team will hold at least one local competition. Swimming meet fees are extra for travel meets. GROUP LESSONS: All LEVELS ~ $55.00 per two week session, 40 Min Classes Classes are Monday – Friday at Pinney Pool. Group lessons are a 6:1 teacher ratio.

PLEASE NOTE: NO REFUNDS will be given once a student has enrolled in swimming lessons. PARENT/CHILD: Open only to children that are 12 months of age to 36 months of age. A parent must be in the pool with the child. Classes are 40 minutes.

LEVEL 1: Introduction to Water Skills: Open to children 3 yrs and older or with instructor recommendation. Course objective is to help students feel comfortable in the water and to enjoy the water safely. In Level 1, students learn elementary aquatic skills, which students build on as they progress through the Learn to Swim program. Some students will have had some experience in the water and may begin the program at a higher level. There are no prerequisites for this course. Classes are 40 minutes.

LEVEL 2: Fundamental Aquatic Skills: Course objective is to give students success with fundamental skills. Students learn to float without support, to recover to a vertical position. This level marks the beginning of true locomotion skills, adds to the self-help and basic rescue skills started in Level 1. Classes are 40 minutes.

LEVEL 3: Stroke Development: Course builds on skills of Level II by providing additional guided practice. Students learn to coordinate the front crawl and back crawl. Elementary backstroke and basics of treading water are introduced. Students learn rules for safe diving and begin to dive from the side of the pool. Must have a Level 2 certificate or demonstrate requirements in Level 2. Classes are 40 minutes.

LEVEL 4: Stroke Improvement: Course objective is to build student confidence and performance of the swimming skills in Level 3. Increase endurance by providing additional guided practice of swimming familiar strokes (elementary backstroke, front crawl, and back crawl) for distance. Breaststroke, sidestroke, and basics of turning at wall is introduced. Must have a Level 3 certificate or demonstrate requirements for Level 3. Classes are 40 minutes.

LEVEL 5: Stroke Refinement: Course objective is to build on the skills in Level 4 by providing additional guided practice. Introduction of surface dives, refinement of key strokes, butterfly, open turns, and shallow diving. Students also learn to perform the front and back crawl for increased distance and to perform the sidestroke and breaststroke. Students must have a Level 4 certificate or be able to demonstrate all requirements in Level 4.

PRIVATE/SEMI-PRIVATE LESSONS: Private/Semi-Private swimming lessons are provided to assist students with their development in the skills needed to be a better swimmer. These lessons are for 1 week and are at a 1:1 or 1:2 ratio versus the 1:6 ratio for group lessons. Private/Semi-Private lessons are 40 minutes long each day for one week Monday – Friday at the Pool. Private lessons are a 1:1 ratio, fees are $70.00. Semi-private lessons are a 1:2 ratio (abilities must be similar), fees are $95.00. Please understand that private lessons are limited and are on a first come first serve basis. Also, just because the lesson is called a Private Lesson, does not mean that you are the only one in the pool. You will be sharing the pool with others. One Day SATURDAY Private Lessons: Every Saturday at Pinney Pool from 9:20 am-10:20 am or 10:25 am-11:25 am our certified instructors will provide a quality one day one hour individual swim lesson. FREEDOM PARK Home of the Veterans Memorial 100 W. California Ave. Located between Kerr McGee Community Center and City Hall. This is a 19.8 acre open turf area open to the public. There is also a Gazebo area available for rental.

HELLMERS PARK – 125 S. Warner St. Located next to the Senior Citizen Center and Pinney Pool. This 1 acre park has picnic tables and an enclosed area great for the dogs. The park hours are: 5:00 am - 10:00 pm.

SGT. JOHN PINNEY MEMORIAL POOL – 205 S. Warner St. Located at 205 S. Warner Street, behind City Hall. For public swim hours check out the public swim schedule on page 22.

JAMES M. PEARSON MEMORIAL PARK Located at the corner of Vicki and Downs St. This 4.5 acre park has a large playground area with a specific area for small children, a basketball court, grass, trees, and picnic tables for community use. The park hours are: 5:00 am - 10:00 pm.

UPJOHN PARK Located at the intersection of Upjohn and Sunland St. This 6 acre park has two playgrounds, horse shoe pits, a basketball court, lights, and restrooms. The park hours are: 5:00 am - 10:00 pm.

LEROY JACKSON PARK SPORTS COMPLEX – 302 E. French St. 56 acres located on French St. adjacent to Leroy Jackson Park.
