The award winning Philpott Marina is open to the public year round generally during daylight hours. The picnic area is a great place to come out and enjoy a snack while taking in the beautiful views of Philpott Lake. There are many hiking trails and walking paths around the lake

to get some exercise and the marina store sells drinks, ice cream and snacks to enjoy after you finish walking. For boaters and campers, the store sells non-ethanol fuel, bags of ice, camping supplies and a wide range of fishing supplies including live and artificial bait. For those hot summer days, the store sells Panama Jack Sunscreen Products. If you forget a life jacket or float cushion, those are also available in the store. So come out and see us and enjoy the lake and the beautiful nature activities. You can contact the store directly at 340.0485.

A MESSAGE FROM THE DIRECTOR

OFFICE INFORMATION

Dear Fellow Citizens: Wow! What a year 2020 has been so far! Thankfully we have plenty of beautiful places to be able to get outdoors and exercise, reduce stress and take in nature. In addition to the Smith River and Philpott Lake, there are 27 park facilities in Henry County for your enjoyment. With fall approaching, this is a great time to go hiking and several parks have hiking trails of varying lengths. In addition to the Dick and Willie Trail, trails can be found at Collinsville Jaycee Park, Doe Run Park, Gravely Nature Preserve, Jack Dalton Park, Lauren Mountain Preserve, the Fieldale Trail and Spencer-Penn. Plans are underway for the inaugural Henry County Fair which will take place in the Fall of 2021 at the Martinsville Speedway. The fair will be a four day event and will feature a variety of attractions and could include such things as a midway, food vendors, live music, fireworks, magic shows, petting zoo and animal exhibits, fair beauty pageant, dog show and other performers. Thank you for your interest in Henry County Parks & Recreation, and have fun! Sincerely, Roger Adams, CPRP
