JORDAN & LUDI, YWAM AUSTRALIA

Here’s a little update from us . . . The last two weeks, Luds and I along with the leaders who stayed in Oz have been having debrief meetings, reflecting on past years school and considering what our options are for the next school in September under the current climate

WEDDING PLANS: We are still aiming to have some sort of a wedding at the end of July in Germany . . . so prayers that everything works out and that we are able to plan everything we need to in the next few weeks would be greatly appreciated With much love from Jordan and Ludi

JOSH AND MEG, YWAM AUSTRALIA

CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR ENGAGEMENT!

July 3rd Queensland Australia enters into their stage 3 plan which sees things like nightclubs, cinemas etc open and allows up to about 100 people at gatherings for weddings etc. Queensland borders remain closed to some territories due to another spike of covid 19 in Victoria.

I think we have 2 active cases in Queensland right now so we're doing well. The Titus outreach program which is a follow on study after SBS started a couple of days ago. Students learn how to teach and prepare lectures/teachings to other cultures. They would normally go on an outreach phase after 2 weeks of seminar but obviously that won't be happening right now. It's going well so far though. I think we had 5 or so students and a few who are not with us doing it online.

PRAYER REQUESTS: WEDDING: Myself and Megan just got engaged! We're hopeful that by March/April next year, international travel has resumed, meaning our families can attend our wedding which we're trying to navigate and plan for at this time. SBS: We won't know about the next SBS in September until probably mid July at the earliest. Things are still up in the air with that. Leadership are meeting regularly to discuss the future of YWAM Sunshine Coast and it's schools. With all of our love from Josh & Meg

GRAHAM & ANGELA YOUNG, GHANA

(But currently in Swansea)

We are ok here in Swansea and continue with the garden and house renovation work. TRAVEL: We have had tentative news that the borders could open in August so we are planning on returning to Ghana in September if God opens the way. SCHOOL: In the meantime I am managing some

school decisions from a distance which keeps me part of the team. FAMILY NEWS: our youngest son has had to postpone his wedding celebrations until next year which is sad, but they will still go ahead with the ceremony and immediate family at the end of August. PRAYER REQUESTS: When to return to Ghana: Their jobs & finances; Continuing to prepare and send lessons for the school children Thanks from Graham and Angela

THE SMARTS – ESWATINI

Dan & Rachel Smart (and their three girls)

THANK YOU: We continue to be so grateful for all your prayers, thank you. We are aware that is where the real work is happening! LOCKDOWN: We have been having conversations with our mission director over the last week, and we agreed a

slight relaxation of our lockdown, that we can meet our church life group in an outdoor socially distanced setting. CHURCH LIFE GROUP: The delight for our girls was wonderful as they were able to play with one of their closest friends, whilst we enjoyed some quality time with our life group in the sun, sharing and encouraging each other. We are grateful for such opportunities of fellowship, 3 months into our lockdown, as they have been very few and it has not been easy for our internet connection to manage Zoom meetings without many disconnections. ESWATINI: Although the country is still a way off the peak, and cases are accelerating, we are aware of the need to know the Lord’s timing for us as a family in the mission that He has called us here for. WORSHIP ACADEMY - as we ask the Lord how he wants us to run the worship academy in the future a safe way, now that we see this pandemic continuing for the medium term. COVID: The cases have shot up to over 800 now in the last couple of weeks, and unfortunately the number of deaths has gone up to 9 (from 3 at our previous report). We are praying for God’s mercy on the country as it continues to grapple with this virus and the terrible effect on the economy. Please pray for the government to make wise, and safe decisions that protect the many in poverty in this country. ANAYA’S PRAYER: (during Parklands service) Hannah asked us: “What impossible thing are you trusting God for?” Anaya’s hand went straight up and said that “she was trusting God that Coronavirus would stop and be gone forever” BULEMBU: continues to try to manage on a much reduced budget, but thankfully with gifts from Parklands and some other sources like the virtual choir performance, the immediate crisis for the organisation has been averted. Please pray for many in the community who are still struggling, but we thank the Lord for donors who have sent food parcels recently. THANK YOU: https://youtu.be/rizGeGeOK8w

CHILDREN OF HOPE: The TKW team is working with many children in the streets right now who have been locked in the city due to the current lock down. Their desire is to go back home and we are building a relationship with them on the streets, sharing food (food is difficult to get due to covid-19) and prayers to keep hope alive as they await their rescue from streets and re-

integration with their families when the lock down between the counties is over. We thank God for 72 children who were reintegrated with their families in May 2020 We are aware that there are between 45,000 and 60,000 children on the streets of Nairobi. Loss of income is devastating families in poverty, without work and no food on the table, making it hard to comply with government health advice. Most families depend on casual, low paid or unstable work and when a crisis like this happens, many have lost their jobs and have nothing to fall back on. Sadly, some homes are not always a safe haven, in times of financial stress. Many children as forced to join the streets and that is why we keep going and keep calm in this storm because every child matters. During this covid-19 crisis, we have been there to support the poorest household with food and some cash to boost their livelihood. For children forced to study from home, we have bought educational materials for them. With this initiative we ensure that children, the most vulnerable family members are stopped from returning to the streets, safe and protected. PRAISE REPORTS: Give thanks for the rescue and reintegration of 12 children last week: Sammy Muturi, Mark Mutua and Christopher Njogu, Clinton Ochieng, Lyan Mbihi, Gerald Kioko, John Kobia, Collins Muturi, Ernest Mugambi, Blessing Maluena, Johnson Mureithi & Mukundi. PRAYER REQUESTS: Pray for them to settle at home and get provision to sustain them in their families Continue to pray for the safety, favour, wisdom for the volunteer community caregivers as they work with children and their families in their respective counties As of June 30, 2020 there are 6,336 confirmed cases of COVID-19 throughout Kenya, with 2,039 recovered patients and 148related deaths. Thank you Parklands for your prayers and support.

S & O: Please remember S&O in our prayers

CES REES: Ces is due to join YWAM Cost Rica in September – her flight is booked for 23rd Sept. PRAYER REQUESTS: Peace to await news whether Ces can still join YWAM Prayer too for Peru – as the country is really struggling with covid 19! Ces is due to join a charity in Peru after YWAM – to teach for five months - but the NGO – Otra Costa Network in Huanchaco is struggling at the present time. Otra Cosa Network runs five of our own projects, which are all part of the Huanchaco Education and Learning Programme (HELP). HELP is dedicated to advancing the education possibilities and resources for those living in lower-income communities in Huanchaco and the surrounding shanty towns. Alongside this, we support several partner organisations in the area, as well as in two remote locations in northern Peru. COSTA RICA:

With a population of over 5 million people and only 51 thousand square kilometers, Costa Rica is a relatively small country. Despite our size, our privileged location between the Pacific and Atlantic oceans has hundreds of volcanoes, countless rivers & waterfalls, and extensive protected areas, which provide much to offer! All of this variety results in the world’s greatest biodiversity and fun activities year round. Our YWAM base is located in Costa Rica’s capital, San José, the country’s metropolitan area. Approximately one-third of the country’s population lives within this area, which is also the central hub for government and industry. Despite its size, San José remains one of the safest cities in Latin America, making it safe for locals and foreigners to enjoy its charm.

MIKE & SARAH ADAMS: SIGNPOST SWANSEA

What strange times we're living in! On one hand, we're busier than ever, globe trotting without the restrictions of travel time and distance as most of the world is now online! On the other hand, we've been stuck at home, not able to visit people face to face! You can see the effect that's having on Mike in the picture!

So what does lockdown look like for us at the moment? As you can see, Mike is as crazy as ever and we're spending a lot of time on Skype, Zoom, WhatsApp, Facebook etc! We've become so used to wearing headsets, we've even started talking to one another with them on! :) All joking aside, although obviously not as good as meeting face to face, it's great to be able to stay in touch with our international friends. We've re-started the weekly Faith Discussion group and I'm in the process of re-starting the Ladies' English Conversation group via Zoom. We're keeping in touch with many people individually too, as technology and timing allows, as people juggle work, children at home etc. Some interesting discussions are being had through the groups and with individuals, and some of our friends are also engaging with other things online such as church services and listening to Christian music. It’s great to see how God is at work through technology. Lockdown is certainly not a barrier to Him :)

WELCOME to MIKE (and Sarah): At the beginning of June Mike is now working for us here at Parklands church, part time. His World Horizons work, including his role as a director and reaching out to international people in Swansea and beyond, remains unchanged.
