State Championship Milestones

Park View High School has won 15 State Team Championships and 40 Individual

State Champions since 1976.

We have begun a new tradition of recognizing the milestone anniversaries

of our previous state champions.

25th Anniversary of the 1991 Boys Soccer Team

• Defeated William Byrd High School in the state final by a score of 3-0.

• The first of three Boy’s Soccer state championships for PVHS.

• The Patriots outshot their opponent by 31-10.

• Forward Terance Gunnells scored two of the Patriots goals, both assisted by midfielder Brian Bechtold.

• Midfielder Johan Allerbrand scored the third goal, assisted by midfielder Steven Dardis.

• Park View went on to successfully defend their 1991 title in the following season

• 1981 Gymnastics State Champion in All Around with a score of 31.23

Eddie Zuraw Track

• AA State Champion Pole Vault Champion in 1986 with a height of 14 feet and 5 inches

• Current PV record holder in pole vault with height of 15 feet

• One of three state champion pole vaulters from PVHS

• “ Eddie was always quiet, but his team mates really helped him to grow and develop into an outstanding pole vaulter” – Coach Jim Hartung

• “ Eddie was one of the most athletically gifted people I have ever met. Speed of a sprinter, natural body awareness of a gymnast, and could high jump 6 feet without real practice. He was also a great teammate, taking time to help all of us. Great athlete, great teammate, great friend.” – Ken Wright, teammate

• 1991 State Champion in Vault with a score of 9.15

• Won both state titles as a freshman

• Placed 2nd in the Region All Around competition

• “Stacy was a very dependable and consistent competitor which in turn helped her put up big scores when the team needed them most. This made her a pleasure to coach and the reason she became a 2x state champion!” – Coach Ritenour Maged
