What is prayer?

It can be many things.

Spoken. Silent. With words. Without words. A thought.

An action. Done alone. Done together. Formal.

Informal. A routine. Any time, any place. In church, in bed, in a

crowd. Asking. For yourself. For others. Sorry. An

expression of love. Appreciation. Thanksgiving. A sigh. A tear.

Learnt. In your own words. Listening. Waiting……… Once in a

blue moon. All the time. Personal. Intimate. Private.

Public. Faith strengthening. Hope. Pleading. Despair.

From the heart. From the mind. From the spirit. A last resort.

A first resort. An on-going conversation. Being present to

God. Awareness. Awe. Wonder. Praise. Joyful. Sad. Funny.

Persistent. Determined. Accepting. Longing. Laughter.

Peaceful. Tormented. Peace-bringing. Intentional. Involuntary.

Unexpected. Long. Short. A moment. A way of life. Sung.

Shouted. Whispered. Recited. Shared. Seeking. Natural. Halting. Stumbling. A new thing. Old hat. Like breathing. Worth trying.

Prayer is our interaction with the divine, however it happens. It can

be all of these things and may be many more.

Remember, Jesus never talked about if you pray but when you pray. It’s something he expects us to do. Prayer is now his role in

heaven, praying for us in the presence of his Father God. It’s something he did both on his own, in the synagogue with others,

and with his friends. For him it was essential.

How do you pray? Can you add to the list……… Praying you can.

Liz

Have you ever thought about taking up watercolour painting as a hobby? It is one of the art disciplines

which needs to be taught…it is so technique-driven. Have a look at Peter Welton’s website

www.peterwelton.com and see if you fancy learning to paint like him. If you do, contact him through the website and book a day course with him. His technique is known in the Art World as Weltonsway and he claims he can teach it to anybody who keenly wants to know. Email: [email protected]

Forthcoming Marriage: Our good wishes to Matthew Smith and Alicia Taylor of Field View, Main

Street who are getting married at St Helena & St Mary's Church, Bourn, on 12th July.

The annual Bruntingthorpe Fete, held for the first time in the field opposite The Plough, raised just over

£2,000. There were a number of new attractions and the addition of a burger stand and Prosecco tent

seemed to go down rather well – literally! Thanks to all those who helped. Additional help was very much

required and therefore thanks to those who got involved for the first time – please don’t make it your last!

Andy White

The annual BBQ at Seals Farm, Main Street, Bruntingthorpe, will take place on Saturday 5th July. Tick-

ets Adults £7.50 & Children (under 12) £2.50 – available from Andy White (2478914) or Alex Montgom-

ery (2478944)

Thanks from David Palmer

'Belated thanks to all those in Hexagon who kindly contributed to my farewell gifts following my recent

departure. The cheque, the bottle of wine and the pot plant were all greatly appreciated and have all been

greatly enjoyed! Do pass on my warmest greeting and thanks not only for the gifts but also the privilege of

sharing with everyone in their faith journeys.'

The Baptism has taken place of Benjamin Frank Williams Baker

We pray that our Lord will richly bless Benjamin, his family and God parents.

you need further information, please contact Liz Colvin on 880528, Anita Thorp on 880496 or Jacqui Skinner on 0116 240

Lutterworth Food Bank. All Saints Church is supporting the Lutterworth Food Bank along with other churches in the Hexagon Benefice. A box is

available in church for anyone wishing to donate non-perishable items but if you cannot get to church and would like to do-

nate, please contact Ginny Beeby on 880386.

Church Cleaner. Doreen Coldrick has been cleaning the church for many years and is retiring in September. The PCC is

therefore looking for volunteers to assist in keeping the building spick and span. The cleaning takes one person about 1-1

1/2 hrs and involves vacuuming the floor, spray polishing the pews, cleaning the brasses when necessary. Ginny Beeby

cleans every other month, so the current vacancy would only be once every two months - less if we have more volunteers, or

friends could do it together which would halve the task. It is not arduous, but a commitment. If you can spare an hour or

two and would like to help, please contact Ginny on 880386

Marriage On 21st June the Marriage took place at All Saints Theddingworth between Alison Fairley and Timothy Rogers .

May God bless them in their life together.

Baptism On 22nd June the Baptism took place of Philippa Mae Shearn, daughter of Danielle and Anthony. We pray

for Gods Blessing on Philippa, Danielle, Anthony, all the family and God parents.
