Mothers’ Union to hear about Human TraffickingAll women are invited to an information evening about Human Trafficking, on Wednesday 21st October at 8.00pm in the Parish Hall. Speakers from Freedom Acts, Craigavon will talk about the impact of trafficking here and overseas, about ways we can help those who have been trafficked; and tell us how we can help prevent trafficking.

Ladies serving supper are Geraldine Campbell, Nora Carson, Phyllis Chambers and Laura Close.

Members are also invited to remember in prayer our focused time of mission in October and to Be Part of It; as well as inviting others to come, especially to the ‘All things New’ evening for women on Wednesday 14th October at 8pm in the Parish Hall. Joan West

St. Patrick’s Ladies Guild  We thank the Rev. Catherine Simpson for leading our Opening Service on 8th September and we welcome her to the Parish. Following the service we had the opportunity to meet and chat to her over a cup of tea.

There will be no Ladies Guild meeting in October as our usual day for meeting that month falls during the Parish time of Mission 2015. All our ladies are invited to come to the events that have been planned from the  9th to 18th October 2015. We will meet again on 10th November and we hope that the renovation work at St Patrick’s Church Hall will be completed for that meeting.   Sandra Donaldson

MONDAY CLUB – for all over 55’s On Monday 14th September we had our first meeting of the new season with 22 members attending. Our Rector, Ven. Roderic West said some words of welcome along with prayers and introduced our new curate, Rev. Catherine Simpson, to us. During the Summer months we sadly had 3 bereavements among our members, namely Sean McConville, Margaret Murray and Peter Ayling. A short silence was observed in memory. We welcomed Mr Herbie Barr who treated us to a marvellous selection of picture slides of people and places associated with Banbridge and District. Our meeting concluded with the usual tea and treats supplied by Mrs Maureen McCrory.

For our next meeting on Monday 12th October at 2.30pm we will be attending the ‘Afternoon Tea’ event in the Parish Hall. This event is part of the events marking the Parish week of focused Mission 2015. I look forward to seeing you all there.

Please let your friends know about our friendly meetings and outings, which we all enjoy. We meet in the Parish Hall at Holy Trinity Church on the 2nd Monday of each month from 2.30pm to 4.30pm. We have different speakers each month, followed by tea & coffee and on a number of occasions each year we have outings to various places.

John Lunney – Chairman

Men’s Society - For all men aged 18 and overIt was great to see a good turnout of the members of the Men’s Society at our first meeting of the new season on Monday 21st September. We received an enlightening talk from an official from the Trading Standards Office. She explained how everyone can be subject to rogue traders, who are out to scam the general public. If it sounds too good to be true, it usually is!

Outing on  Monday 19th October – A Visit to Dan Winter’s Cottage, LoughgallCost:    £5 (incl. supper).

In order to organise transport, please pay £5 to the Parish Office, David Wheeler or David Adams by Monday 12th October. Depart Holy Trinity car park at 7.15pm.

Friday nights from 6:30pm-7:30pm in Holy Trinity Church Halls.

Ready Steady Go! meets each Friday night from 6:30pm to 7:30pm for a packed hour of games, challenges, crafts, snacks and stories, a Fun Filled Friday indeed! This year we’ll be looking at ‘People of God’ hearing stories of people from the Bible such as King David, Ruth, Paul and many more!

So if you or anyone you know is in P1-P7, please encourage them to come along each Friday night to Ready, Steady, Go! held in Holy Trinity Church Hall, Banbridge or speak to Pete for more information.

Journey so farI am so grateful to God for calling me to Seapatrick Parish and to you, the good people of Banbridge, who have welcomed me with open arms. It has been a privilege to get to know and work with the Rector and staff team and to visit many of you in your homes and hospitals and to journey with you.

Over the last few weeks, many people have asked how did you end up here? And the answer to that question is simply I heard God’s voice and responded to it. For each of us who choose to be disciples of Jesus Christ our journey to a living faith will be different. I perhaps like many of you was baptised as a baby into the church family, but those promises made by my parents only became mine when I took them for myself. I was 10 years old when I began to seriously consider what it meant to be a Christian and so as a teenager I became increasingly aware of Jesus’ command to ‘Follow me,” and so I did and do.

Our mission ‘The Best is Yet To Be,” is an opportunity to experience and be part of a journey. A journey together, over 10 days of special events and services. This is also an opportunity to journey and to grow, to question and wonder, to share in fellowship and to be part of what it means to be a church family.

Being a disciple is both a personal and a corporate activity. In Mathew 4:19, Jesus calls us to be a disciple and to be ‘fishers of men.’ I look forward to journeying with you as we enjoy the 10 days of events.

Rev. Catherine Simpson (Curate)

Sundays at 7pm-9pm in Holy Trinity Church Halls

We’ve got off to a great start in Inspire with our Games Night and ‘Ask Me Anything’ nights; looking at questions such as ‘Are all lies bad?’ and ‘Should Christians go to war?’! You ask the questions, you set the discussions, you make Inspire what it is, all we now need is YOU to come along each week and bring your friends!

Inspire is a great opportunity for encouragement and to meet with others your age and chat about the issues we face. With games, discussions, big questions and loads of tasty treats, it’s always a great night at Inspire - just ask any of the ones who go to Inspire what you’re missing out on!

BBQ and Fun Evening - Saturday 12th September 2015On Saturday 12th September we were blessed with a spell of dry weather amidst an otherwise wet weekend and a fantastic crowd of local people (about 700 people) who enjoyed a very successful Free BBQ and Fun Evening! With loads of activities and treats from Rodeo Bull to Popcorn, Cage Football to Facepainting, Balloon Modelling, Total Wipeout Sweeper, Inflatables, Tea/Coffee, BBQ, Chocolate Fountain, Board Games, Music and a Treasure Hunt; there was plenty for people to see and do! Great conversations were had amidst a great buzz of excitement and enjoyment in the church grounds. Thanks to all the volunteers who made the event possible; to St. John’s Ambulance for their first aid cover, and thanks to all who came along!

Some of the comments received from the event were as follows;

“I had a great day, one of the best days ever” Child aged 9

“Was an amazing event to bring my family to and we had lots of fun” Parent

“So pleased to come along, and really enjoyed being with my church family”

“We were delighted to welcome new families joining with us on Sunday mornings afterwards”

For those who wanted to know the answer of the Treasure Hunt – the letters when rearranged spelt out CHALLENGE and the answer to the tie breaker was 101 Red triangles. The winners were the Fry family.
