St. Ursula Parish

Called To Be Holy

With this Sunday we begin Ordinary Time. The readings tell us about God’s relationship with Israel and John the Baptist’s relationship with Jesus. Israel’s relationship with God is so close, so intimate, that it is through Israel that God’s “salvation [will] reach to the ends of the earth” (Isaiah 49:6). But we know from John the Baptist that for Israel to accomplish God’s will, it must also recognize that Jesus is the Son of God. During these weeks we also get to know Jesus. We begin to understand more deeply our relationship to Jesus and what that relationship means for us, who are “called to be holy” (1 Corinthians 1:2).

Bible study sessions resume at St. Ursula on Monday, January 20, at 7pm in the Social Hall. The group is studying Ascension Press' 11 week program on Revelation. Workbooks for the program cost $27. If you would like to learn more, please contact Jan Kowalski at (412) 654-4721 or join us Monday night, January 20, to see what it's about!

ALPHA PROVIDES CONNECTEDNESS Alpha creates an opportunity to explore life’s deeper questions, and allows participants to search for meaning in their lives. Alpha is a place that in a friendly and open environment helps you to understand what you be-lieve and feel about God and faith. The beauty of Alpha is that is does not matter where you are on your faith journey – nonbelievers, those whose faith is just awakening, and those who feel they already have a re-lationship with God gain personal insights into faith. The human heart is hungry for connectedness – to each other and to God. Is there someone in your life who you would like to give the opportunity to explore life’s big questions? Why not invite them to Alpha, and come along with them as you each explore the relevance of faith in your life?
