This International Executive Master of Business Administration degree programme is designed for working executives and professionals in private and public sector organisations in overseas locations.

This study at post graduate level provides the practicing manager or executive the opportunity to be more effective for his organisation and thus improve both his organisation’s and his personal performance in this very competitive, globalised and dynamic environment.

The course of studies for the degree encapsulates all aspects of management knowledge and practices which altogether will enhance the analytical and problem solving skills of the individual manager.

Awarding Institution: Ecole Superieure de Gestion (ESG – Paris Graduate School of Management)

Entry Requirements: Any Undergraduate degree, or approved Professional qualification, with a minimum of three years working experience.

A waiver of a first undergraduate degree may be awarded on the basis of a minimum 10 years work experience at a senior or executive level. Applicants without a first degree or an approved Professional qualification may be requested to submit themselves to a case study examination in support of their application.

COURSE STRUCTURE

The course structure enables the student to develop all round skills and knowledge in the field of business management. This structure adopts a multi disciplinary approach where students are expected to acquire an understanding of core business functions that applies to many business and public sector organisations.

The course structure allows students to specialise in specific professional areas in matching the specific skills and knowledge requirements of their chosen profession and work environment.

The programme structure has taken into account the QAA Benchmarking recommendations in the design of the structure and content of the Executive MBA programme. Similarly the key skills requirements of the QAA Benchmarking statements have been adopted in the framing of the delivery and assessment methods.

LEARNING OUTCOMES

Knowledge

The course will require the student to understand and appreciate the principles and concepts of management and organizations and to apply these theoretical concepts towards understanding business practices.

Students will be able to collect relevant information across a range of areas pertaining to a current situation, analyse that information and synthesise it into an appropriate form in order to evaluate situations and alternative courses of action that may be contemplated.

Within the broad framework of organisations, their external context and management, students will be able to use knowledge to analyse (e.g. by classifying, contrasting, discriminating, examining), to synthesise (e.g. by constructing, creating, formulating, hypothesising, negotiating, planning, validating) and to evaluate (e.g. by appraising, concluding, judging, measuring, prioritising, recommending) cases in the following topic areas:

ASSESSMENTS

Student performance in the programme will be assessed by appropriate formal methods which can take the form of set examinations, the submission of a portfolio of written assignments or a combination of both. Full time and part time students will in addition be assessed on contributions to the group in case study sessions and oral presentations.

The application of computer assessment methods may also be used subject to access to computers and the Internet.

International Executive Master of Business Administration – Programme Specification

All students must submit a final integrative project or dissertation. The length of this written project will vary but will be from about 8,000 to 10,000 words in length.

Assessments for all subjects will focus on analysis and evaluation of knowledge and questions will be framed to achieve this focus. Questions that can be answered by repetition of materials from text books or other sources will not be approved.

All assignments and projects given, as part of the required assessment for a particular course, will be accompanied by a marking guide to enable the student to be aware of the criteria for assessment to be applied for all submitted work.

Student support and guidance

Students will be supported for all academic matters. For full time and part time students an established tutorial support system will be made available by the approved and accredited PGSM local provider. English language support will also be provided where necessary

For Distance Learning students can communicate directly with their allocated tutors for specific subjects via e-mails or traditional postal methods including FAX. Direct telephone calls to tutors are discouraged in view of the location of the students in different time zones.

Voice conferencing through the internet at set schedule times will be available for group discussions for Distance Learning students. Access will be an hour per week at scheduled times.
