CYCLE BOKS
The CycleBoks team is a group of young entrepreneurs who found each other on Climate-KIC event back in June 2015. We formed as a group to solve the challenge of improving bike-parking facilities in Copenhagen – ranked the best bicycle city in the world in 2015.
Climate-KIC #ClimathonThe Climathon event took place on June 18, 2015, across 20 major cities around the world. The event was structured as a 24-hour hackathon, but instead of solving
computer problems, we went head-on to tackle climate challenges. The challenges differed from city to city depending on local settings, and for Copenhagen there were three challenges to choose from: ‘Bike parking’, ‘Air quality’ and ‘Traffic flow’.
Our TeamOur team consisted of 6 people from 5 different countries: France, Romania, India, Poland and Norway. Our team formed due

to common interest in biking, and apartfrom the couple, Oana and Gabriel, none
of us knew each other from before. Over the 24 hours we had help from facilitators and coaches from Climate-KIC, and we had many ideations,
developed different business models, and finally we found our prototype – a shipping container fitted with bike racks.
Our PrOTOTyPeAfter the 24 hours of hard work, sweat and tears, we presented our final concept in front of a jury consisting of venture capitalists, innovation managers and city planers. What we had focused on - Cradle-to-cradle design, multi-functionality, mobility and a serious environmental focus, paid off.
We were selected as the winners of the Climathon Copenhagen event, and will get the chance to present our innovation in Paris, December 6, at Climate-KIC’s COP21 event. Will we see you there?
how can we provide flexible and on demand bike parking for urban events?

This concept is designed to address the need for an ultra-portable, cheap and easy to use bike rack.
The premise is that it is easy to install, takes up little space and has a low material impact in production. This ensures a small footprint on both production cost and environmental impact.
A typical costumer of the minimalistic bike rack could be an urban event organizer working on both low budget and limited space.

The Functional Bike Rack provides more than just portable bike parking. It serves as the base for many public services – free or paid.
With additional modules, you can expand the functionality to include power outlet for electrical bikes, solar panels, smart locking system and more.
The Functional Bike Rack could be installed near public transport hubs, in proximity to offices and public buildings, or in the street as paid-for-service.

The Micro Architecture Bike Rack is designed to include more social functionalities. This could include vegetation, benches, rental lockers, traffic and city information.
The final design of this solution should be adapted to local settings, needs and behavior, and the esthetics is one of the main drivers.
The placement of such a bike rack could be near to public places like parks and museums, or in marginalized neighborhoods, where it can serve as a reference point for positive change.
