Examination ReformExamination Reform
Linear Examinations – For two-year GCSE courses beginning in September 2012, all external exams will have to be done at the end of the course. Re-sits of individual modules will end.
Spelling, Grammar, and Punctuation - Marks for accurate spelling, punctuation and use of grammar will be awarded in exams that have a sufficient written English element – English literature, geography, history and religious studies.
Vocational Qualifications reviewed – BTECs will now feature an element of external assessment and equivalency to GCSE has been reviewed.

Controlled assessment - internal assessments and not part of the exam cycle, so the timing of these will not be affected by the change. However, Ofqual are looking separately into issues that schools have raised regarding the
implementation of controlled assessment. A more rigourous assessment – less bite sized
and a raised bar? Proposal - EBCs will be taught from 2015. Potential changes to A Level from 2014 -
