The Journey so far……..• September 2009• Survey sent out to all Departments• All Activity documented• Split by general activity or targeted activity• Pleasantly surprised at how much was
already in place
Looked at OFSTED objectives• Mapped out our status based on 10
objectives• Used Traffic-light scheme• Helped put an annual plan in place
Use Moodle to support Parents
• Created a Parents Area Portal accessed from front screen
• Invited Parents to apply for their own login• Same time sent Survey to all Perins Parents
to assess ICT provision at home
Set up Perins Parents Group
• 18 members max. plus staff• Meet every half-term• Discuss communication methods• An informal discussion sharing ideas and
views• Clarifying channels of communication
• Website vs VLE• SMS texting• E-mail between Staff and Parents• Digital Parents Handbook
What are we currently working on?• Have acquired the PEQS package to
evidence our activities for accreditation• Based on a number of strands in matrix
format• Working with all key departments to provide
evidence• Expect to be completed by end of 2010
Working with Feeder Schools
• Liaise with PEC from local schools• Looked at Home Access programme• Looked at Disadvantage Subsidy• Meetings here at Perins• All minutes and support added to
Moodle
Produce a Parents Handbook….digitally• What would new Parents want to know
about your school?• Brainstorm with your Parents Group• What format? Digital vs hard copy?• Clear, relevant categories with
resources that can be downloaded• Format that can be upgraded
