What is Parent Support?Parent Support is a service that works with parents of school aged children up to 18 years of age who are:

• behaving badly in the community

• taking part in criminal activity

• not attending school (only if this is happening with one or both of the above behaviours).

What will Parent Support do?A Parent Support Worker will visit your home and provide support and advice to you and your child for up to six months, to help you regain control of your child’s behaviour.

We will:

• work with you to improve your relationship with your child

• support you to increase your skills and be more confident as a parent

• provide ideas for new ways to communicate with your child

• help you learn new approaches to discipline

• work with your child (if appropriate) to help them behave appropriately and attend school regularly.

Parent Support will develop a Responsible Parenting Agreement with you, outlining how you and the service will work together to improve the care and behaviour of your child.
