I would recommend to all parents to go over grades and see what improvements need to be considered for each subject. If your childs performance needs improvement, I strongly recommend to take action now. My recommendation would be to check pupil path daily, contact teacher for recommendations and seek tutoring. A Message from the Parent Coordinator Dear Parents,

"Forest Hills Exploravision Competition wins. Congratulations to Sagan STEM ninth graders Danielle Rafailov, Amber Lakhram, Daniel Malayev , Anna Chen, Lina Ustaeva, Qilin Kuang, Shahema Reha, Fairuz Humaira, and Amy Mustafa. They all received Honorable Mentions in the Toshiba Exploravision Science Competition. Students had to research and propose a future science technology breakthrough. Forest Hills HS joins Stuyvesant, Townshend Harris, and Bronx Science as the only four high schools in NYC to earn recognition in this competition."

Fourth marking period grades are due on Friday, March 15th

2019. After grades are submitted, programming office will

program students into next year courses. This will create course

requests for the next school year. Guidance Counselors will begin

meeting with students on March 25th to review and discuss their

programs for next year. Guidance Counselors will meet will

students through May 3rd. Please continue to adhere to the

dates of the marking periods and when grades are

The Guidance Office is proud to announce the following College Trips: Adelphi, SUNY Stonybrook, Queens College, New Paltz, Manhattanville, Brooklyn College, Institute for Culinary Education. Please have your students see their Guidance Counselor in Room 105 or the College Office in Room 218.

College Office has planed two spring trips, SUNY New Paltz and

Manhattan and the other SUNY Stony Brook. Space is limited!

Interested students should visit room 218 for more information

and for permission slips.

Happening at the Hills

Students are in the process of hearing back from their colleges. They were advised to read their emails regularly to follow up with college requests and forms. If they had concerns with the status of their application, they were asked to contact the colleges the students applied to directly or CUNY main number 212-997-2869.

Upon receiving acceptances from colleges students will receive financial aid letters explaining the Cost of Attendance, Scholarships and Grants offered as well as any loans. It is important that the student and family understands the information provided.

Students who have applied to college may be receiving invitations to take a placement exam. This test is to determine the student’s level in English and/or Math and is required to register for class. Students who have not received an invitation yet should be patient and regularly check their email and home mail for the invitation.

Later this spring, seniors will be required to complete a

graduation survey on their Naviance account. They will

indicate responses for each college they applied to,

scholarships offered, as well as their final decision of where

they will attend. They will be notified by email when the

survey is available Looking for Freshman and Sophomores who interested to

be part of the new Spring Developmental Lacross program.

The program will be geared to the late dismissal from

4:45—5:45 pm three times a week. Interested candidates

need to complete the PSAL parental and medical forms. For

further questions, see coach Bralower in room 265 pd

2,5,7 and 9 or on the field 3:30—5:30pm

Our new CATCH Health Center opens next week in the

basement. This health center will provide additional

health services and counselling to help our students.

The CATCH Program will be beginning on March 7th in

room B15 alongside our current school nurse Ms. Perez

who will be returning to room B13 soon. Our students

and their families have already received "opt-out"

letters that are being collected in the main office. The

CATCH Program will provide many health services to all

of our students as well as a second full-time nurse in

our building. (Birkhold)

Lincoln Center - College + Career Fair

On Sunday 3/24/19 - Lincoln Center will be hosting this

event.

Are you interested in a potential career in art? Lincoln

Center Education invites high school students to their

College + Career Fair, Sunday March 24, 2019.

Attendees will learn about scholarships, ways to refine

their portfolio, and much more.

Job Posting We are looking for Chinese and Indonesian speaking paras. If you

know of a family member or friend who might be interested We are looking to hire up to 3 student co-op aides. Interested

students should be good writers, and have solid organizational skills.

This is a paid position that will be for approximately 4 hours per week. It will include work after school hours and some evenings.

What is Posse? The Posse Foundation identifies public high school students with extraordinary academic and leadership potential that may be overlooked by the traditional college selection processes. Posse partner

colleges and universities award a Scholarship a four-year full-tuition scholarship. It is an early decision commitment therefore once a student is accepted they are committed to attend the college and must withdraw all other applications.
