House System• Four house groups (similar to Harry Potter). • Students spin a wheel that assigns them a house. This house is their

house for the remainder of their RC career.• Four houses/colors: prospatheia (effort)-yellow, bondade (kindness)

-blue, apasionado (passion)-red, odvaha (courage)-black. • Students are able to earn house points for positive character traits

displayed. • The house with the most points at the end of the year gets a party.• Houses meet every 9 weeks to teach our house character traits.

Discipline SystemThe yardstick will travel with our classes throughout the school.

• Green: Fantastic day! Awesome job! ☺ • Yellow: Warning! The student should slow down and think about their

behavior. • Red Level 1: The student will miss 10 minutes of recess. • Red Level 2: The student will miss all of recess, the teacher/student

conference, and parents contacted. • Red Level 3: Miss all of recess, the teacher/student conference, parents

contacted, and the student referred to the office

Parent/Teacher Conferences● Parent Teacher Conferences for ALL students → October 1 and

March 10 from 3:15-6:15. All students will be invited to meet with their teacher(s).

● Parent Teacher Conferences Invite ONLY → September 4, November 13, January 15, February 12, and April 22 from 2:30-5:00. All students will not be invited to attend.

CommunicationThe SINGLE MOST IMPORTANT thing you can do for your child is to communicate with your student’s teacher.

DAILY → behavior sheets, agendas, Remind, homework assignment sheets, etc. Other forms of communication:

Student folders, Remind/texts, Phone Calls, Emails, Meetings @ school (teacher planning times), Home visits, etc.

*Not all teachers use the Remind app, and not all teachers are willing to give their personal cell phone numbers. Use of these media is at the discretion of the teacher.

Skyward Family AccessIf needed we can send home information with login information for new students; if you are a returning student and need this information, call Stacey in the front office, and we will get that sent home. Fall festivalSaturday, October 26th from 4:00 - 8:00 pm with our Haunted House from 4:00 - 9:00 pm.

● Early bird ticket sale From October 21st through October 24th. If you purchase tickets at this time, you will receive 4 free tickets for every $5 spent. You can also purchase tickets for the Haunted House at $4 during this time instead of $ the night of.

● Tickets will not be sold to students. If you would like to purchase tickets early, you must come to the front office.

● Permission form→ Ticket sales for the drawing of a paddle board, tent, or YETI cooler ● We also have a Fall Festival Silent Auction. Please send all donations by Monday, October

21st.● Volunteer to help? → fill out the volunteer form in the packet and return in your child’s

folder.

Reminders• Dismissal→ Do not arrive before 2:30 (2:00 on Wednesdays).

• Mrs. Benere’s office hours:Communication between home and school is critical for your student’s academic success. Should a topic need to be discussed after you have communicated directly with your child’s teacher, I am available via the following methods:

● Email: Email is the preferred way to get in touch. You can reach me at celina.benere@fcstn.net● Telephone: Please feel free to call the main office at 931-361-0244. If I am available, I would be happy to speak with you.

If I am unavailable at the time you call, I will return your call as soon as possible. ● Office Hours: Monday-Friday 8:30 AM - 3:30 PM. I do not typically set meetings before 8:30 AM; mornings are a very

busy time of day for us, so I begin meetings after the day has begun and students/teachers get settled. However, if this is the only time you are able to meet, please call in advance to set this up. For any other times, please email/call to schedule.

● Social Media: Our social media accounts are an easy and fast method to share outwardly the news and learning that is taking place within Rock Creek Elementary School. It is managed by many teachers and staff and is not the most direct or best way to reach me. Please do not use social media as a means to contact me for important meetings and/or concerns, timely questions, etc., as I do not want your voice to go unheard.

● If you (or your student) have an emergency, by all means, contact me the best way you can!
