WHAT IS TITLE I?
Federal program that allocates funding to districts to improve student achievement for struggling students, particularly in ELA and/or Math.
WHICH SCHOOLS RECEIVE FUNDING?
Title I funding is determined federally by the percentage of economically disadvantaged students within district/school.
Students of all socio-economic backgrounds can be serviced.
Schools with higher percentages of economically disadvantaged students receive funds.
DISTRICT DECISIONS FOR TITLE I FUNDS
• Stakeholder survey - community input• Building level needs assessment• Curricular resources• Staffing needs to provide targeted intervention
services, i.e. reading/math interventionists, data coordinators
• Extended day and summer programs
HOW ARE STUDENTS IDENTIFIED?
Multiple measures of assessment data to identify students in need of academic support
• district benchmarks • teachers’ assessments• teacher recommendation• prior grades/1st MP grades• PARCC data (grades 3 and higher)• quarterlies• Fountas & Pinnell literacy benchmarks (former DRAs) • I&RS recommendation
PROGRAM FLUIDITY
Programs are structured with entrance and exit criteria.
Students may qualify one year, demonstrate growth, and exit at end of year.
WALL INTERMEDIATE SCHOOL
Programs/Services
Extended Day Academic Intervention
• October to April• 1 hour after school, up to 4x week• Student choice sessions
● ELA, Math, Reading Intervention, Counseling
Knights In Training• transition program for students new to WIS
Data Coordinators• analyze trend data to identify students, monitor progress, and
design professional development for teachers.
ENTRANCE AND EXIT CRITERIA
Entrance Criteria• Marking Period grades, Benchmark Assessments, PARCC scores, teacher recommendation, I&RS recommendation
Exit Criteria• Approaching/ attaining grade level goals in ELA/ Math as determined by the marking
period grade• Attainment or approaching/ meeting expectations as defined by ELA/ Math PARCC scores• Measuring Up program score of a 70% on the End of the Year Assessment• Classroom teacher and RTI team recommendation• Attainment of learning goals set by the intervention teachers
Reading Math
1. Addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division facts
2. Computations3. Problem solving4. Number sense5. Use of manipulatives6. Math vocabulary
WEST BELMAR
Programs/Services
After School RTI - After school supplemental program
ELA 1x week, Math 1x week
Targeted ELA and Math intervention with specialists.
Data Coordinators - analyze ELA and Math trend data to identify students, monitor progress, and design professional development for teachers.
