They may be overly disruptive or withdrawn and exhibit many kinds of challenging behaviors and mental health concerns. But children and youth can be resilient through supportive relationships with consistent and caring adults. In this presentation, Dr. Sara Langworthy will share scientific research and practical strategies from her book, Bridging the Relationship Gap. She’ll introduce approaches for working with children to learn self-regulation skills and build resilience. Community Conversation: Building Resilience Thursday, November 2, 2017 Metropolitan Ballroom, 6-9pm

Some people appear to thrive in spite of situations that create overwhelming stress, while others seem to wilt under lesser burdens. This community conversation aims to provide caregivers and parents insight into the characteristic we call “resilience.” In this conversation with Sara Langworthy, Ph.D., author of the award-winning book, Bridging the Relationship Gap, we will explore strategies for strengthening relationships and resilience.

PACER: Challenging Behaviors and the Individualized Education Program (IEP) Sometimes children and youth with challenging behaviors struggle to stay successful in school, despite having an IEP. This workshop provides information for parents and others to help address IEP-based concerns. • Bloomington, Oct 17, Tues, 6:30-8:30pm PACER Center, 8161 Normandale Blvd. Center for Engaging Autism: Mindful Parenting Through education, support, and targeted mindfulness training, parents experience large reductions in stress. This method has direct impact on the overall health of the entire family, and the child with autism often shows better functioning, less stress, and increased social skills.
