Clifton was established in 1942 and has consistently offered experience and expertise in termly, weekly and periodic Prep School boarding.
Our beautiful rural setting in the foothills of the Drakensberg offers children opportunities that cannot be replicated in urban schools. The freedom and safety our day scholar and boarder children enjoy on our 60ha estate and the surrounding farmlands has to be experienced to be understood.
Our Vision To be the ideal place to grow children
Our Mission To provide a home from home for all our children, utilising our unique and beautiful surroundings. We aim to establish sound academic structures within small classes while focusing on developing the individuality of each child. We acknowledge the potential of each child to make a difference, and in so doing equip our boys and girls to face the challenges of life in contemporary South Africa and the world in general. Our Values Clifton Preparatory School is an inclusive inter-denominational Christian school. We hold the values of honesty, integrity and tolerance at our core. In all areas of pursuit, fair play, good manners and wholehearted effort are encouraged. Good citizenship is developed in our children to assist them in becoming contributing members of whatever community they live in. Our Motto Prodesse Quam Conspici – To accomplish rather than be conspicuous.

School Song
For the beauty of the earth For the beauty of the skies
For the love which from our birth Over and around us lies
Christ our Lord to Thee we raise this our hymn of grateful praise
For the joy of ear and eye For the heart and rains delight
For the mystic harmony Linking sense to sound and sight
Christ our Lord to Thee we raise this our hymn of grateful praise
For the joy of human love Brother, sister, parent, child
Friends on earth and friends above For all gentle thoughts and mild
Christ our Lord to Thee we raise this our hymn of grateful praise.
The Grace
May the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ
And the love of God our Father
And the fellowship, the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with us
For evermore and evermore and evermore
AMEN

CLIFTON COMMUNICATION
The d6 School Communicator is the App used by Clifton for communicating with Parents and Guardians. Occasionally you will receive emails from us but most of the communication will come to you via the d6 Communicator. It is essential that you download this App and check it daily.
Should your email address change you will lose access to the d6 therefore it is essential you let us know your new email address as soon as possible.
Boarder parents – the leave form is accessible through the d6.
Download the d6 on your PC, digital device or cell phone by accessing the following URL: http://www.school-communicator.com/download.php
Follow the installation guides and select the relevant Grade/s and Channels including News. Remember that you will need to change the Grade at the start of each year.
If you need assistance in setting up your d6 School Communicator App then please contact Mr Mkhonza on [email protected] or +27 (0)33 266 8229.
The other app available to parents/guardians is the Names & Faces App. It is a very useful App but not essential. It is very useful should you wish to make contact with staff via email or contact other parents when it comes to, for example, arranging play dates or birthday parties, etc...

STANDARD OPERATING PROCEDURE
The Clifton Sanatorium is committed to ensuring that the children’s health while at school is maintained at its very best.
Some San Rules:

they are injured or become unwell during the academic day at school).
• Day Scholar children: - Sick children are not to be sent to school until they are well enough
to attend classes. - Please notify your child’s teacher/tutor if your child is not well and
going to be absent. - If a child is unwell at home he/she MAY NOT be referred to the
Sanatorium for treatment; the San services are for illnesses and injuries that happen during the school day.

16
- It If would be appreciated if routine appointments be made by the Parents/Guardians during the school holidays (eg Orthodontist, Dental, Optometrists, Podiatrists, Psychologists, routine immunisations…).
- NB Tetanus immunisation is necessary every five years. Grade 7 children require a doctor’s medical examination as well as the routine twelve year immunisation before admission to high school; this must be done by the Parents/Guardians.
- All medical illnesses requiring a medical officer will be at the Parents’/Guardians’ cost.
- Boarder children who become unwell and cannot attend class for more than two days will be sent home. Consideration is given to children who live outside South Africa.
- If your child is taking monthly prescription medication please ensure that your child returns to school at the start of each term with the correct quantity of prescriptions for the term.
• If your child is injured at school or on a school outing (sport or other)
please contact the Sanatorium or Bursar immediately to discuss procedure with the school insurance.
Should you wish to discuss any issue relating to your child’s health contact Sister Kamwaro on: +27 (0)33 266 8208 or via email on [email protected].
