Naib Subedar Sana Singh (JC-155825Aj, son ofShri Amar Singh, was born in village Kadyal.Jammu, on January 6, 1949. He was enrolled in 8Jammu and Kashmir Light Infantry on January 6,1969.

During June 1987, 8 Jammu and KashmirLight Infantry was deployed in Siachen area. It wasdiscovered that a large number of Pakistaniinfiltrators had intruded into the area. The ejectionof these infiltrators was considered difficult butnecessary and a special task force was, therefore,constituted for the purpose. Naib Subedar SanaSingh volunteered tojoin this force.

The Pak intrusion had taken place at a heightof 6500 metres. Their position was virtually animpregnable glacier fortress with ice walls, 457metres high, on either side. Naib Subedar SanaSingh led his men through an extremely difficultand hazardous route with courage andleadership. The task force crawled and closed inon the adversary. Lobbing hand grenades,charging with bayonet and moving from trench totrench, he cleared the post ofall intruders.

For conspicuous gallantry and leadershipunder most adverse conditions Naib SubedarSana Singh was awarded Param Vir Chakra.
