Dear Colleagues:
I would like to invite you to join us in Pittsburgh for the Panther Global Summit 2011,
an exciting three-day meeting to discuss recent advances and the future of anatomic
ACL reconstruction. Anatomic ACL reconstruction is defined as the functional restoration
of the ACL to its native dimensions, collagen orientation and insertion sites with the
intent of restoring normal kinematics of the knee, optimizing return to activity and
maintaining long-term health of the knee joint.
In addition to our University of Pittsburgh faculty, our guest faculty includes nationally
and internationally recognized pioneers in anatomic ACL reconstruction from Africa,
Asia, Australia, Europe, and North and South America. The conference will include
lectures and case presentations with plenty of time for lively discussion and
interactions with our faculty.
I look forward to seeing you in Pittsburgh for the Panther Global Summit 2011.

Overview
The Panther Global Summit 2011 is an exciting three-day meeting to discuss recent advances and the future of anatomic ACL reconstruction.
Anatomic ACL reconstruction is defined as the functional restoration of the ACL to its native dimensions, collagen orientation and insertion sites with
the intent of restoring normal kinematics of the knee, optimizing return to activity and maintaining long-term health of the knee joint.
In addition to the University of Pittsburgh faculty, the guest faculty include nationally and internationally recognized pioneers in anatomic ACL
reconstruction from Africa, Asia, Australia, Europe, and North and South America. This conference will include lectures and case presentations with
plenty of time for lively discussion and interactions with our faculty.
Who Should Attend
Orthopaedic surgeons, fellows and residents, sports medicine physicians, nurses, physical therapists, athletic trainers and other sports medicine professionals.
Continuing Education Credit
The University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians.
The University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine designates this educational activity for a maximum of 25.0 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits TM. Physicians should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.
Other health care professionals are awarded 2.500 continuing education units (CEUs) which are equal to 25.0 contact hours.
Objectives
At the end of the course, participants will be able to:
• Describe the history of ACL reconstruction over the last 30 years.
• Describe the morphology and function of the ACL.
• Describe the effects of the injury and reconstruction of the ACL on the biomechanics and kinematics of the knee.
• Identify new and emerging technologies to critically evaluate the outcome of anatomic ACL reconstruction.
• Apply the concepts of evidence-based practice to improve the outcomes of ACL surgery.
• Discuss the advantages and disadvantages of graft options for anatomic ACL reconstruction.
• Discuss the current global perspective of the advantages and methods to anatomically reconstruct the ACL.
• Describe the principles of post-operative rehabilitation and determine readiness to return to activity after anatomic ACL reconstruction.
• Describe the current state of biological therapies, including the use of platelet rich plasma (PRP), to facilitate healing and repair after ACL injury and reconstruction.
• Describe the principles for prevention and non-operative management of ACL injuries.
• Discuss the incidence of and risk factors for failure after ACL reconstruction.
