Structure of the workshop

The workshop will be divided into two consecutive parts dedicated

to acquire knowledge and improve practical skills in standard

surgical techniques. Opening lectures related to clinical practice

will be supported by following practical surgery exercises. The

latter will be conducted in small, four-person teams and

performed on human cadavers, prepared tissue materials and on

simulators. Each team will operate on one of the four prepared

stations and after finishing, rotate to another. The roles in teams

include: a surgeon in charge, two assistants and a nurse, which

also rotate each time. The participants will be assessed by

instructors after each exercise. The final assessment at the end of

the course is mandatory to obtain certificate of participation.

Aim of the workshop

The workshop will be a theoretical and practical introduction to

the treatment of pancreatic tumours. Led by international and

national experts in the field, it will offer high quality of updated

knowledge about pancreatic cancer. The program contains

evidence-based clinical practice guidelines on diagnosis,

indications, a surgical access and perioperative care of patients

with pancreatic tumours. New surgical techniques will be available

during hands on sessions on cadavers.
