IWFA Ladies came out to support their fellow members and friends
The Bob Herder Light Tackle Award was established in 2006; its
purpose is to acknowledge the outstanding achievements in the field
of light tackle angling.
The IGFA honored IWFA member Pam Basco with this prestigious
award on April 18th, 2015 for her outstanding catches that were
released and reported to the IGFA.
“Very few anglers have an angling resume that can compare to Pamela Basco. As an angler, she has 17 light tackle IGFA world records to her name, on some of the world’s most prestigious saltwater gamefish. In addition to her angling achievements, Basco has also been a strong conservationist and has served and supported several organizations including the IGFA (where she served as a Trustee), IWFA (where she served as President), CCA and TBF.” –IGFA website

32nd Annual Ocracoke Invitational Surf Fishing Tournament
As the name suggests, the Ocracoke is an invitational only tournament with over 400
anglers participating and many others wanting to participate on a waiting list. There were
72 teams of six anglers that competed for prizes and all proceeds raised through
sponsorships and entry fees goes to give back to the charitable events and causes.
This year there were 2 teams with of IWFA members, Hazel Basnight’s Team was called the
Showstoppers and Summer Bracher’s Team was called Fish Tales. The girls surely showed
the boys how it’s done! The Showstoppers finished third along with another men’s team,
their option was to flip a coin to break the tie for Third Place or they could take Women’s
First Place. First Place it was for the Showstoppers! Congrats Hazel for an outstanding
finish with your team of which some of the team mates took home most fish and most
points. The Fish Tales Team came in Second Place, an outstanding demonstration of female
determination and angling talent.
