Planning Design Studio 2015Professors Vikas Mehta and Conrad KickertUniversity of Cincincinnati Urban Planning

Our current studio class in Cincinnati is focusing on Independence , Kentucky and the corridor KY 536 that connects three different counties.

At the start of the studio, we visited the area multiple times to get a S E N S E of the place. The oil pastel to the right is the result of my interpretation of the area and what it means to visit or live there.

After completing this exercise, each studio group was assigned different maps to create given a certain topic.

My studio group took on the challenge of labeling character types along KY 536 and the surrounding north and south areas.

To the right is a completed map of the mu-nicipalities in Washington County, PA that had adopted a Comprehensive Plan. The map above is one I worked on in co-ordination with a Landscape Architect to represent the changes being made to a community with the inclu-sion of a college school district.

Year 2: Semester 2: This planning internship was my first co-op experience. I formatted documents like zoning ordinances and action plans for the communities our firm was working with.

Most of our work was researching for current and future design projects for the company but one project was more elaborate: on the east coast of Dalian, our firm was undertaking a design project focusing on the natural conservation of the area while planning for a sort of geopark that would attract tourists to this semi-dilapidated and secluded site.

The island just off its beach is nicknamed Bird Island for the birds that occupy its rocky surfaces for nesting and mating. In these maps, I show the major roads, entrances and exits to the site, natural / historical sites, and key development opportunity land tracts.

These minimalistic maps you see to the right are land use site-design exercises that I originally sketched for the mapped area above.

Thank you for viewing my portfolio!

This past year has been very defining for me as a person, artist, and urban planner. I can say that the opportunity to go to Dalian, China for a co-op was the most incredible thing I have ever done and was incredibly relavent to my studies in urban planning. It has increased my world view and solidified my interest in international affairs and methods of urban design.

I made it to the Great Wall!!!
