Preserving Traditions, Supporting Palestine

Vision and Mission For more than 25 years, the American

Educational Trust (AET) has been promoting U.S.-Middle East understanding with an emphasis on

informed debate on the Arab-Israeli peace process.

Our Artisans

Fakhoury Pottery of Jerusalem produces hand-made and hand-painted Palestinian pottery under the direction of

Mohammed Fakhoury. Each piece is lead-free, dishwasher safe and provides urgent support for traditional artisans in

Jerusalem (al-Quds) and Hebron (Al-Khalil).

Atfaluna Society for Deaf Children is a charitable society working to empower the Gaza Strip’s hearing impaired. As

you can imagine, the struggles of residents in the Gaza Strip weigh doubly on the hearing impaired, the majority of whom live well under the poverty line, dependent upon the limited

resources of charities and their families. Atfaluna’s craft producti-on provides training in traditional and modern crafts

as well as income to support the hearing impaired and their families.

The Palestinian Arts & Crafts Trust (PACT) is a project of the American Educational Trust that aims to supply a growing demand for Palestinian products and, in turn, to help sustain traditional industries in

Palestine during their ongoing struggles.

Under the pressures of occupation and international sanctions, these traditional and unique products are increasingly at risk of disappearing as viable industries. PACT is proud to make our small

contribution to maintaining external markets for these products. We hope that you will help us support these traditional industries that provide a dignified livelihood for Palestinians and that will eventually

serve as important foundations for a Palestinian economy ready to flourish in peacetime.
