    Pakistan’s greatest humanitarian, philanthropist and social activist, Abdul Sattar Edhi, led a simple life dedicated to helping the needy. Following his death on Friday night, tributes poured in for the man unanimously revered as a national hero. He spent his life in service to the people of his country and his passion for helping mankind inspired thousands to follow his lead.

    by the sun, his broad shoulders weakened by the weight of the thousands he carried, but his bearded face never lost the smile. Edhi was indeed a man made of steel with a heart of gold. He belonged to all of us.

    He was the founder and head of the Edhi Foundation in Pakistan. Edhi Foundation runs the world's largest ambulance service and operates free old people's homes, orphanages, clinics, women's shelters, and rehab centers for drug addicts and mentally unstable individuals. He had a vision to establish welfare centers and hospitals to alleviate the pain of those suffering from illness and neglect. The foundation was developed into an organization of ambulances, clinics, materni ty homes, men tal - hea l th institutions, homes for the physically handicapped, blood banks, orphanages, adoption centers, mortuaries, shelters for runaway children and battered women, schools, nursing courses and hospitals. It is now the largest social welfare network in Pakistan, has undertaken several relief operations in other countries as well.

    A team of Balochistan Boy Scouts Association was honoured to visit Edhi S a h a b p e rs on a l l y w h e n h e wa s

    hospitalized, and also spend first day of Eid-ul-Fitar 2016 at Edhi Centre Quetta (Balochistan) with the orphanages at Edhi

    centre. A tribute was also given for his excellent services for humanity and

    prayers were been offered by the Scouts at Balochistan Boy Scouts Headquarter, Quetta.

    On Friday, 15 2016 at PHQ. Sindh Boy Scouts Association organized Condolence Gathering & Candlelight tribute in the

    Memory of Abdul Sattar Edhi. A number of Veteran Scout Leaders and Scouts took part in Condolence Gathering & Candlelight Tribute. Many of them expressed their sentiments and love towards Edhi.

    Gali Murree Hills on 19 July 2016 to attend a reception in her Honour By Mr Munir Ahmed Bhullar T.I. Mr. Muhammad Tariq Qureshi, Provincial Secretary, Punjab Boy Scouts Association was also present on the occasion.

    MEETING AT QUETTA ON 30 JULY, 2016 On the invitation of Ms. Rahila Hameed Khan Durrani, Speaker Balochistan Assembly & Chief Commissioner, PBSA, Mr. Abdul Mannan, International Commissioner, PBSA and Zahid Mahboob, Secretary, PBSA attended a meeting at Quetta on 30th July, 2016 at Provincial Scout Headquarters, Balochistan Boy Scouts Association, Quetta to discuss the

    forthcoming Scouting events and other scouting matters. The participants of the meeting also witnessed the Assembly Session on 30th July, 2016, Chaired by Ms. Rahila Hameed Khan Durrani, Chief Commissioner, Pakistan Boy Scouts Association.

    Regulations & Coordination has notified

    for the information of general public that

    Meningoencephalitis) is a rare disease

    with mortality rate of greater than 95%.

    The clinical features of PAM are similar to

    meningitis; include headache, fever, stiff

    neck, anorexia, vomiting, altered mental

    status, seizure, and coma and death

    typically occurs in 3-7 days.Most Naeglera Fowleri infections are

    associated with swimming in warm

    freshwater lakes. Naegleria fowleri can

    grow in public and private water tanks and

    pipes, especially with little or no

    disinfectant. This infection also occurs

    when people rinse their sinuses through

    the nose and cleanses their noses during

    religious practices using contaminated tap

    or faucel water.For prevention & control it has been

    advised that it must be ensured that

    adequate levels of cholorine are

    maintained in the supplied tap water along

    with strict monitoring arrangements.

    Awareness and education in the affected

    areas be undertaken to educate people on

    requisite preventive measures.Any of the suspected cases should

    immediately be reported to health

    authorities for corrective measures. The

    updated guidelines for the prevention and

    A DVI S O RY BY T H E N AT I O N A L INSTITUTE OF HEALTH, ISLAMABADNational Institute of Health, Islamabad has notified that due to seasonal forecast for

    monsoon rainfall and floods in different parts of the country during July-September 2016, timely measures should be taken to minimize the occurrence of disease outbreaks during and after floods.It has been urged that the concerned authorities should take necessary p r e v e n t i v e m e a s u r e s t o a v e r t environmental degradation, water & food contamination and sanitation issues that could work synergistically to increase the incidence of communicable / infectious diseases. The anticipated food & water,

    vector borne and zoonotic disease outbreaks could only be contained through advance preparedness and

    preventive measures so as to minimize the morbidity and mortality.The National Institute of Health has

    recommended that stockpi ling of emergency medicines, antibiotics, Anti Tetanus Serum, ORS, IV Fluids, Anti Rabies

    Vaccine (ARV), Anti Snake Venom (ASV), Typhoid vaccine along with logistic support must be ensured. Besides this Acute Watery Diarrhoea situation be monitored and response initiated immediately without waiting for lab confirmation of Cholera.
