C Sewing related items for the Give-Away table (recycle) C Bring your completed Veterans’ Block of the Month FROM OUR PRESIDENT - Marybeth Richardson My goodness the leaves are falling with a vengeance and the pumpkins are smiling everywhere… ‘tis the season for nest building. Getting the whistling tea pot out, cushion in the rocking chair, finding good books-on-tape and good lighting…let the hand stitching begin! Our meeting on Monday Oct 28 will begin at 6:00 and I hope you all will be there. The “Sue’s” from Trackside Quilting in Laurel are coming down to put on the program. If you have made something from any of the patterns or used any of the tools they have shown, please bring them to share. With two Quilt Retreats this month, hopefully there will be items for Show and Tell on the 28th . If you aren’t attending you should drop by the Holiday Inn, Cody and see all the various projects that 50+ ladies are working on. I need to set up a nomination committee (of 2 or 3) to work on getting a slate of officers to serve on the Guild Board for 2020. Please let me know ASAP. I should have asked about this at the Sept meeting, but we were a little busy. The slate can be presented in the November newsletter and voting will take place at the November meeting. Remember the offices are: President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer. If you are willing to fill one of these positions or if you have questions of what the job entails please contact me. We elect officers for a one year term. P.S. could you make the wind stop blowing??? Keep your needles threaded….. Marybeth

MINUTESThe September 23, 2019 meeting was called to order by Marybeth Richardson. There were 23 members and 1 guest present.

Guests: Cinda Bothell was introduced as a new member. Kathie Taylor waswelcomed back after having not attended for awhile. Later in the meeting,Cathryn Mayton was introduced as a new member. Chris Wolf attended as a guest.

Minutes: It was moved/seconded/passed to accept the August 2019 minutes as printed in theSeptember 2019 newsletter.

Treasurer’s Report: The current Treasurer’s Report, as printed in the September newsletter, will besubmitted for audit at the end of the year.

Membership: We were able to recruit new members who attended the quilt show.

Committee Reports

Sunshine: Contact Evelyn Browning if you know of someone who needs a card sent (Ph: 307-272-5148, email: [email protected]).

Community Quilt Projects: Serenity House Baby Quilts—Give new quilts to Marybeth.Nursing Home —Give quilts to Marybeth. Honor Quilts/Block of the Month—31 quilts were displayed at the show. $34 was donated at theshow to go toward vet quilts. Linda has block kits ready for those who would like to make one.

Soup, Sew & Stitch: The next sewing event is scheduled for October 19 starting at 9 am at the Weedand Pest office in Ralston. Ann T. said that a good group attended the September 21 SSS gettogether. In November, Lauren Andrist will have mystery quilt instructions for those interested.

Social: Barbara P. supplied the dinner for the meeting as a thank you for help with the quilt show. Nextmonth’s food will be supplied by Geraldine and Lili.

Program: The program for October will be Trackside Quilting. The Decembermeeting will be our potluck. Those wanting to participate in the gift exchangeshould bring a gift that is “anything Christmas-homemade.”

YQF: Barbara P. continued with the YQF show critique meeting.

Show & Tell: A t-shirt quilt was shown. Chris Wolf (visitor) said she is workingwith students on a quilt and hopes to get more students involved next semesterand hoped to get our support.

Program: Barbara Pike conducted a YQF meeting to critique the quilt showheld September 12-14. Minutes will be sent out in October. Meeting adjourned. Barbara Pike/Secretary

OPPORTUNITIES for fun and INTERESTING STUFF

YELLOWSTONE QUILT FEST (YQF) - Barbara Pike is attaching Minutes from the Follow-up meeting.The Veterans’ Quilts are being given out by Families on the Home Front (see pics).

QUILT WYOMING 2021Hi NW region quilters, yes, I know not all of you are members of WSQG, but that does not matter! Iinvite you to get involved in the 2021 Quilt Wyoming that will be Northwest College in Powell July 15-18,2021. We will have 3 national teachers plus 10-12 classes each day (Friday and Saturday). Thecollege is a great venue with lovely air conditioned classrooms, comfortable dorms and an excellentauditorium for our evening programs.So far the theme has been chosen, the logo will be finalized next week, the raffle quilt is at the long armquilter (Lauren Andrist!) and we have signed contracts with the national teachers. Whew!

There will be a short meeting during my retreat in Cody at the Holiday Inn conference room SaturdayOctober 26 at 2:00 pm. There are just a few jobs that need to be addressed over the winter, next fall(2020) begins the busy time with local and regional teachers to be contacted, classes chosen and the brochure written. Lots of last minute jobs will be dealt with in June and July of 2021. There are manyfun opportunities if you want to get involved at any point!
